Hi, the website http://www.supersinfulsilicon.com/ is not responding, when will it be fixed?
And does this player support projection of a side-by-side video sphere?

Any plans to incorporate a cinema or home cinema. A nice designed UE4 cinema would look awesome although I'm sure not easy but it does add to perspective and size. VR Cinema worked really well but seems to have be lagging on an update for DK2.

Being able to just watch a video or select a cinema scene would be great.

Will advise later if update worked for me. thanks.

Yes, there will be some "scenes", however this will be not be ready for a while.

So I tried a couple of videos and here's my feedback:
    - Direct Mode is a blast. Headtracking is unbelievably smooth, no issues whatsoever and the 3D is amazing. Thanks for this!
    - I really like that you have window that stays on the main display to configure. An on-screen menu later down the line would also be nice tho.
    - Maybe you could set NumpadPlus and NumpadMinus to steadily increase the scene size when you're holding them down. Atleast for me I had to push them repeatedly to change the size.
    - Not sure if you're already planning to integrate other display modes like Dome and the like but that also would be cool :)
    - Options like Tilt and Rotation would also be appreciated since some videos really profit from it imo.

Keep the good work up! Excited for future updates :)

Still getting nothing but a headtracked logo.

Click on a movie, old avi of 24 season 1. Nothing shows or looks like it tried. maxvr logo stays on the screen and nothing?

    EDIT :
Just tried loading mkv x264 and it said to enable LAV filter to be preferred. But I tried using Win7DSFilterTweaker_5.9 to do this?

Hey sorry to hear. I'm going to issue you and refund. I can't reproduce this issue on my PC. There is something very wrong with the filters on your PC for it to show that message.
    Win7DSFilterTweaker_5.9 at http://www.codecguide.com/windows7_preferred_filter_tweaker.htm
Will let you do all kinds of things to see how you video / audio filters are on your machine. You can set preferred etc.

You can keep the current version you have, sorry I can't fix this one. Please email me so I can refund to your email that you used to purchase MaxVR.

Strange... I can only get this working in extended mode. It launches on my main screen, then I just alt+enter to window it, open the file I want to play, and drag it to the rift window, and alt+enter again for full screen. Works like a charm. For those who prefer extended mode, maybe this will work for you too.

Definitely need a quick fix update for the random pixels on the edges of the virtual screen. I also agree that adding a virtual theater environment greatly helps for a sense of scale, though if the cost is lower FPS then it's not a sacrifice I would make.

One unique issue I am having is HFR videos. I convert my 3D SBS files to 60 frames per second using SVP. It's the same as the difference between a game running in 24 and 60 FPS, it's infinitely easier on the eyes. When I try to play those files in this player I usually get between 35-45 frames per second for the movie. The program still runs at 75, but the movie is dropping tons of frames. Hopefully this can be improved with optimizations to the player/sdk as I have feeling the limitation is in my GPU power. I'm currently running on an r7 260x.

Thanks for the best Dk2 theater so far, I can now comfortably watch movies on the rift! In many cases due to the brilliant amoled screen, movies look better on the rift than in a theater or on my TV, despite the lower res and limited FOV.

best playback of sbs content i have seen so far, no noticeable judder when i move my head. so i'm a happy customer :D

would it be possible to add a few more options to make bigger jumps like 1,5,10 mins with shift+cursor since it is kind of annoying if you stopped a movie at one hour to go back there in 10sec steps :? ?

Hey thanks for the kind words! Those random pixels at the edge of the screen should be (mostly) gone. It was a problem with enabling MSAA on the rendertargets. There is occasionally some left, which I'm not sure right at the moment how to fix. However it's very minimal / hard to notice and only in some scenes.

SVP is awesome, wish it was more open source. In fact I wish I could implement Framerate Upconversion right in MaxVR and have looked around for some open source library. As for the 35-45 fps - does the audio cause dropped frames? I'm not 100% sure but I do have to use Reclock in a lot of videos to not get dropped frames in Media Player Classic Home Cinema. I do want to support Reclock as a audio renderer in a future release.

Awesome man! I'm implementing a in VR GUI, this will allow absolute seeking. The 10sec jump is in there just for now.
I do like the idea of shift+cursor so I'll put that in for a 1 minute jump in the next release.

Do you plan to add support for DirectShow capture devices down the line? I think using my 3DS capture software this would enable me to play 3DS games in good 3D inside the Rift haha :D Recorded footage I tested was already quite awesome! Would be great - also I haven't seen any VR player that supports it yet :)

    Check out my app LiveViewRift:
    viewtopic.php?f=28&t=11001
With this you can watch DirectShow-devices with the rift (choose the OpenCV-input type). It can play movies and do a lot of other stuff, too. :)
Watch panoramic 3D photos, videos and do FPV-flying with LiveViewRift!

I just watched my first full (>120min) movie in MaxVR - the experience was very pleasant, it was easy on eyes and didn't cause any unwanted side effects. But now I have a few further observations:
    - Sometimes I still can see random pixels around the screen edge. (I'm using v0.5.3)
    - 2.39:1 aspect ratio movies are stretched to 16:9 (I was watching a 3D movie but i believe this to be true also for 2D files)
    - You should implement some sort of screensaver suppression since every time the screensaver would go off the playback freezes.

    I hope this will help.

Latest Release 0.5.4 fixes the aspect ratio problem you are describing, just released the file.
Screensaver suppression is implemented - hopefully it actually works. Passworded screensavers I believe will still activate as per Microsoft documentation.
Random pixels around the edges - this is a hard one not able to fix yet and only seems to happen with some videos / scenes in videos / configs. Not sure whats going on here. So far pretty hard to notice on my end here. Not sure if it's the chromatic aberration.

I don't thing it's chromatic abortion since this time if I look straight at those random pixels they are white.

I'm still at a loss - can you take a screenshot. Also press Ctrl+J, that will show some debug info in the screenshot. SBS Stereo would be good too.

  • hi

is here an easy way to stop my avatar spinning around really fast ?????

without messing with my various controllers in windows as they are all set perfect for my simulator racing setup

I would just like to configure about 3 simple keys :

    forward

    sit down

LOL. What your actually spinning around in MaxVR? There currently is no movement implemented. You can not go forward or backward or sitdown. You can only move your head around with the Oculus Rift Positional Tracking.
I haven't put in any logic / code to handle movement or turning like you have mentioned spinning so this comes as a major surprise to me.

Sounds like a VSYNC issue. I've seen this in VR Player randomly. Its essentially a screen tearing but since our "screen" is rotated it shows up as a vertical disparity in one eye, essentially a cut in the screen as you move your head around.

Thank's for your solution from my problem.
    Your service are perfect.
It was the windows settings for DPI.

Well this is strange, if you email me and want a refund I can definitely do that for you!
It might be Windows 7, as on my website I have stated this has not been tested on Windows 7. A lot of people however are having no problems and are using Windows 7.

This may have something todo with the proper service packs / platform updates that need to be installed in Windows 7 for this to work properly.

I can't figure out how to show you this, but let me do my best to explain.

When there are colors on the screen, bright and all lit up, gorgeous. I'm having an issue when there are dark movie scene. If I close my left and right eye independently, the shadows are being displayed differently. Almost as if there are different frames of the movie on each eye.

So what ends up happening is that things look...off. As if my eyes are cross-eyed, but ONLY on dark scenes. Anything I can provide to help you? I tried to get it on camera but the effect is so subtle (but very noticeable).
