    Feature request! :)

Not sure if this is feasible depending on how you've done the coding, but I think it would be great to be able to control the amount of curve in the curved screen. I think the screen with a stronger curve in virtual desktop works well for watching videos and adds to the immersion. Currently the curved screen can still feel somewhat flat watching a 16:9 video on a very large screen. Is there any possibility for this? Thanks for all the great work!

I hear ya! I would like to have that be flexible too.
Stay tuned, will be working on a new screen type that will have a variable FOV or curve in this case.

LOVE THIS APP! Thank you :)

Every time I think I'm going to try it for 5 mins, I end up watching something for ages in a general sense of agog :D

Can't wait to get home and try out the virtual theatre! \o/

Max VR Owner, really great program. Nice and simple, and it works.

Question: Is it possible to control the amount of 3d separation? (ie. make the 3d movies feel MORE 3d?)

I have so far tried Gravity 3d... and while it's good, I feel the 3d effect is a bit 'less' than it is in real life. (on a 3d projector for instance)

(Side Note: I really wish films would be made at 60 fps. This whole 24 fps nonsense is just annoying to view in 3d.)

Hi, I've noticed that MaxVR pegs my cpu (i5-4670) at about 40% simply by being open, even before loading a video. Is this expected behaviour?

Yes it is threaded to utilize multiple cores, It is in a tight realtime loop for rendering. Almost like a game.

Dynamic Screen is in! 0.7.2 Adds this functionality.
It's there also to closely match up to the FOV of various Camera's, such as the Panasonic HX-A500. It's currently customizable on both dimensions, and will add more features later to show a value representing the FOV that the user has customized to. Saving "Presets" is next, which will work for all types of screens.

I just bought it - it's really cool!

Am I missing an option or is there no way to tilt the screen? I would love to be able to really center the screen to the direction I am looking - so that I can lean back and still have a perfectly centered picture. Also lying in bed looking up would be possible that way.

If not yet, please implement that :)

Another thing I would appreciate is a button to toggle the audio track. I set my preference for audio to ENG, but sometimes I like to hear a directors commentary etc. and right now I do not know how to access those. Of course this is of very little importance compared to the other feature request ;)

After update "ESC" button doesnt exit program on some videos, it freezes with "Not responding" in task manager.

EDIT: With this update I get green stripe on the bottom on .avi file , 1280x544

Is this with a particular avi or all avi's?

I'll do some testing today and hopefully solve these problems by tomorrow!

And how do I adjust the Dynamic Screen? My screen just goes black when I select Dynamic.

Really? You don't see the MaxVR logo, or video?
Does text pop-up saying Dynamic Customizable Screen?
When you hit "s", do you see the flat screen?

Would really like to track this down if possible, what Graphics card are you using too?

Lol, you know the last time a went to a theater the seats were really uncomfortable and I would have loved a big comfy seat!

All joking of course, I will fix it. 3 people now complaining they want smaller cramped seats....

Thanks for the answer, is this an area you can optimise and reduce the overheads?

I've tested using normal 2D movies and Big Buck Bunny which was linked earlier, it's Top/Bottom and you can download 1080p and 4k per eye at both 30 and 60fps. At 1080p and 30 fps my cpu usage is ~60%, 1080p at 60fps and my cpu is ~70-80%, it still plays smooth but I start getting a small amount of head tracking judder which I'm assuming is related to the higher cpu usage.

I'm yet to test out the 4k versions but I'm just thinking ahead for CV1 and higher resolutions that needing to have a powerful cpu could become a bit of an issue.

If you start to get some stuttering hit "M" to only show in rift and not duplicate to your monitor. This helps with FPS issues. If frames start to drop you need a more powerful machine.

I've already had a deep look into this. The utilization is actually a good thing. This means it is scaling well with regard to the video being played as you have seen.

I've had an interesting discussion with a customer about 4K content, and MaxVR does play it. However he was interesting in playing 2 video's simultaneously with a 4K left eye view and a 4K right eye view for a total of 8k. So he made a SBS video that was 8k total. You need an uber machine, and this is kinda unattainable in realistic terms right now.
4K SBS of Half/Half 3D content will play just fine - depending on the frame rate of the content. If it's 24fps then It should be ok.

I guess there is a reasonable expectation that with VR and HD, full frame 60fps video that a high end machine is required. For regular video, which is mostly 24fps and 1080p Full/Full or Half/Half there should be no real performance problems. When you leave this territory however your gonna need more horsepower.

1440p plays smoothly on my i5 4670k with AMD r9 290 OC, notably in 180-panoramic dish which looks superb!

Regarding the seats thing - I'm not sure if its the seats are too "roomy" per se, so much as the scale feels wrong, I feel like Mouse sat in the chair XD

Fab app nonetheless - feel have already got massive value for my money :)

Dynamic screen is excellent and well implemented. Bravo.

The scene is a nice feature as well though I feel like this is more of an add-on gimmick than something I will regularly use. We're virtual now, no reason to cling to the comfort of familiar reality! The best theaters are mostly blacked out during screenings to minimize distraction anyways.

I'm not sure what the hell is going on at Reddit. Sorry Dev, I've tried to spread the word for your app (I seriously think it's the best one available for movies), but the Reddit folks just down vote the posts to oblivion and accuse posters of being...you. I guess it's doing more harm than good.

Odd, you shouldn't be dragging the window or using all enter in Direct to HMD. Direct to rift just shows up in the rift. Also make sure Oculus configuration utility is set to Direct to HMD. You can also disable mirror display in MaxVR hitting "M" on your keyboard, this helps with performance.

If you want to use extended mode you can set the extended compatability setting in MaxVR.ini to 1. Make sure Oculus rift configuration utility is then also set to Extended Desktop. Then you can drag window to rift display and hit all enter.

Not really there yet, scale is still wrong, it tells my brain something isnt right :)

Green bar on the bottom on that avi file is fixed tho. Thank you!

EDIT: ESC doesnt exit program on some videos, it freezes it then I must kill it in task Manager :?

There's a very weird crowd in that reddit - for the love of Zod dont bring up anything feminism related, that much I know for sure :/

Anyway - app is great, really appreciate the updates. I see the size of the seats per se has been changed, but I cant put my finger on it - the scale still seems way off (big) to me. Its not a major thing, something you can perhaps tweak as you go.
