Low brightness in extended mode

When running in direct mode, the brightness, gamma etc. are all tuned great. When I switch to extended mode, the display is significantly darker.

If I use the Nvidia Control Panel to adjust the DK2 brightness it has an effect (I can see it working) but as soon as I start the Oculus Config Tool to display the demo scene, the brightness reverts back to the darker color.

I've tried switching between hdmi and using an hdmi to dvi adapter with no luck. Also tried restarting the service and power cycling the DK2 which also doesn't seem to have an effect. The strange thing is, every once in a while I get normal brightness in extended mode but I haven't figured out why.

System: Win7 640-bit SP1, i5-3570K, Nvidia GTX 970 w/ latest drivers.

Which Nvidia driver are you using?

Also, a 640-bit OS? Surely enough for anyone.
