Wow, this is great. I don't understand why everyone is concerned with having the Oculus Rift control box send the display signal. The display is independent from the tracker. The tracker works without HDMI plugged in. Basically, you could plug any HDMI display in to your computer and have it display the tracker's movements. We just need a good HD panel that takes HDMI as an input and is 5" to 7". Is it possible to build a display board for the Nexus 7 display which takes HDMI input?...

I'm throwing my hat in. If anyone succeeds in installing a higher-res screen, I will take the risk and upgrade mine. What I'm concerned about is the wiring to the screen. I haven't noticed any detachable connectors, and there isn't much slack to work with if I have to cut the wires, and reattach them to new wire ends.

your a good man sir * salutes * see you in VR one day...

No salute. I've actually kinda gotten used to 1200x800 since then, and don't have nearly as much free time as I thought I did. The next model will come in good time, so I'll stay patient. There're already enough things to be figured out for implementing the DK as is.

  • tried getting a look at the visual resolution by holding my rift lenses up to my nexus 7 and i gotta say the difference is only slight. There are many more and much smaller pixels but it still manages to have enough screen door to be distracting.
