Why do some of my comments say they won't appear until they've been approved?

Ah... I thought the stars were my naughtiness status. Kind of like the star levels in GTA.

I'll obviously have to try harder to piss people off :)

The real question is, have any of those comments survived the approval process. :)

I had the same thing. I tried to respond to a question in the support section and it wouldn't let me post without approval first. Strangely, after a few hours my pending comment was still not posted/approved, but I could comment in the thread without any issues :|

Can we get a call here? Is this approval of posts necessary or a glitch? Do I need to be concerned about Oculus censoring what we say?

Honestly I hope it is not a bug and an actually feature for people that have high amounts of "dislike" on there posts. Though it is possible it is a glitch :)

Like I said, it's happening to me as well because people don't use the dislike system correctly, I copied and paste some of Palmer's response on reddit, and a bunch of people here have disliked the post because they don't like what Palmer is saying...Which will lead to the post being hidden...

If people can't use it right I suggest it gets removed all together

I had this happen earlier, and thought it was because I had a url link in my post, once the link was removed it posted - maybe all links need to be checked first?

Not that I am aware off, you can post links just fine. It might be a glitch in the new forums or a feature that activates after a person gets a certain amount of dislikes.

No link in mine, just hit the 10 dislikes, and most of these dislike are copy/paste from Reddit, mostly Palmer's response to a few thing...

Cyber talked about it a while back:

Cybereality wrote: " There is also a "Dislike" button, which will eventually make the post hidden if enough people don't like it. This is a feature aimed at removing abusive or non-constructive posts from the feed. You should not use it if you simply disagree with someone."

It seems there's quite a few people who haven't read this and treat the dislike button like on Youtube. Some people are disliking legitimate posts  and hounding others simply because they have a pro Vive slant. What are you going to do about educating these people?  I would create a thread about this but it's early days. Maybe a quick PM to the offending few Cyber?

So, the Dislike is there for that reason as well. I was just pointing that out so people didn't abuse the feature. So far people have been good about it, and I'm personally OK as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Lot of new faces have popped here in the last few days Cyber needs to make that clear....

Can you really blame them though? There have been so many anti-rift threads and posts these last few days made by pro-vivers that actually are more fiction that reality. Obviously people grew tired of that and yes, shamefully, that means good rational posts about the vive get some of the anger as well.

Then there is also the group that simply dislikes everything. It sucks, but that is the way things are.

So there is a spam filter on the new forum, and it will flag posts if it feels there are suspect. This could happen if there are lots of URLs to external sites (like emails, images, links, videos, etc.) or suspicious words, etc. Luckily, I can override it, approve posts, verify people's accounts, etc.

If your post is flagged for moderation approval, please don't just double-post the same message. Wait a bit for me to approve the post. If it's still not approved, send me a PM and I can approve it and verify your account so you don't get the message anymore. Thanks.

Well I never did any VIVE thread so...and I always help everyone around here, if the dislike systems is blocking my ability to post, then I want it removed...

I got dislikes for literally copy/pasting Palmer's response on Reddit, and I got dislike defending the Rift room tracking ability, when someone said that the Rift could do room tracking but it was by accident, I replied yeah but Viagra was discovered by accident and look how awesome that turned out to be

Like I said, I don't care about the dislikes themselves, but if it blocks your ability to post and people just use it for no reason, then it needs to be removed

The Dislike button has nothing to do with the spam filter. Getting Dislikes will only hide a particular Disliked post. It will not stop you from posting in other threads or creating new topics. If a post is flagged by the spam filter, it means I have to approve it. When I do this, I can also verify your account so your posts won't be flagged again. Thanks.

    Ok thx Cyber

SPAM filter picks up what exactly? I never curse or throw insults... can't remember what I wrote when I was writing it but I am sure it was politically correct...but since english is not my native tongue I might have made a few spelling mistakes, you never know

Thanks for clearing that up, Cyber. I'd much rather have to wait to have the odd post of mine approved than see the board flooded with ads for viagra and the like :)
