I am returned.

Sadly, I am stifled at a certain step.

I added the SteamVR tool, and when I try to use it, I get three notification windows from Steam.

The first says:
     Error Starting SteamVR
SteamVR failed to initialize for unknown reasons. (Error: Not Initialized (109))

The second says:
Compositor is not available <This Text In Red, BTW>
You'll need this to run SteamVR to work correctly.
         <u> Launch Compositor</u>                                     (400)

The last says:
     SteamVR <and has a dropdown symbol>
Not Ready <in BIG RED LETTERS>

This last note has an X in the corner, while the first note has an OK button.

I looked under the SteamVR dropdown, and saw:
     Run Room Setup
     Run Tutorial
     Display Mirror <greyed out>
     Devices/
          Update Firmware
          Pair Controller
Direct Mode <this one was checked, when I tried it, everything went crazy.>
          Reboot VIVE headset
     Workshop/
          Browse workshop
          Upload Background
     Create System Report
     Settings
     Help/
           ugh.... stuff
           basically led me to https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3180-UPHK-0900
which I kinda think is a condensed version of what was posted above...
      Quit

The Help dropdown also led me to: http://steamcommunity.com/app/358720/discussions/
where I hope to discover the solution to my problem.

If I discover anything, I will let you know!

I cannot get the Xbox wireless controller to be seen in Steam VR, it shows it in oculus as being connected but Steam does not recognize it. Now if I go into a game in steam without VR is works, something I am not seeing needing turned on? Any help appreciated.

Cheers

It doesnt show that the xbone controller is connected in steam VR HUD

it still works tho for me tho, I think it just runs on defaults no need to pair or setup controller

Steam just included desktop mode in SteamVR. I'm typing from there right now. 🙂
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

Thanks for the heads up. I tried it, and it crashed, and asked me to send an error report to the developer... only I can't seem to find one! Everywhere I look, they just give me links to the forums or documentation.
