So I was perusing NewEgg, and I noticed that DDR4 RAM has gotten a lot cheaper than when I built my PC two years ago. I started thinking about doubling up from 16 to 32 GB. (I'll probably give it a couple more days in case of any Black Friday deals.)
I know that 32 GB is overkill for gaming, but I've read about (and seen) how Medium can slow down when you use complex stamp tools.
Can anyone comment on how much RAM Medium typically eats up, and whether more will help it run smoothly as a sculpt gets more complex?
I would spend the next to nothing it would cost to upgrade to 32 gb. I probably see ram as almost free because I was buying it back in the day at over $50 per MB, i.e around '91 or so. 16gb should be enough for most design packages, but I am not sure what method medium uses to create the models. If it's a bunch of metaballs like I thought I read somewhere, it could take up a lot of ram. But it's so cheap these days, it can't hurt to upgrade.
