Man, those cheap Gear headsets really have to go to a ridiculous amount of work to make up for their lack of positional tracking...

For people who have never tried VR or good 3D, i bet that is pretty mind blowing. Captain Eo blew my mind back then at Disneyland. Truly stunning and a good example of "good 3D" and why i new 3D gaming could be amazing.

WTF is up with a return from Mars ending up in the middle of the super bowl? Did they run out of 3d assets?
I'm sure a space craft free falling onto the field isn't good for the grass.

NASA has to sway with the times - and they have to feed their sponsor!

It does look rushed at the end (I think the effect is lost), as can be heard in comments from the early development phase video snagged by a source (below).

Also the issue with loading and unloading, and the quality and duration of the experience kind of makes one wonder on the "gimmick" nature of the VR aspect in this experience - but it is a start in an interesting direction:

Oh definitely, it looks pretty cool.

The superbowl just doesn't do much for non americans. :)

Just another marketing showcase, like a F1 race or the NASCAR finals.

I am not into sport, but a lot of our clients promote at these events.

May be when VR eSports gets going I will get a interest!
