Unsure about The Unspoken

I played
it at a shop demo for like 3 Minutes and really liked the concept. Now I have
my rift+touch and it doesn’t come with touch anymore. Sure, I’m glad Robo
recall does instead but now I’m really uncertain if I should buy it.

I
learned it is almost pure multiplayer and what I played must have been like a
bot training level. I’m definitely a single player or PvE guy but there is no
other game like this I know of.

So, is
it really that good and is the community so alive that it will be fun even in a
few months from now? I know, very subjective questions, but I would love to
read some opinions…

This is one of the games I was looking forward to the most, and I did get it for free with my Touch pre-order.

I spent the first few days playing as the Anarchist and then switched over to the Kineticist. I was massively addicted for many weeks, and started focusing on leveling up specific magic skills.

I made a huge post about my love for this game over on the VR Spies forum:
http://forum.vrspies.com/t/the-unspoken-my-gamer-addiction-renewed/1180

After awhile I started to notice that the Blackjack character may be over-powered, and everyone seems to be playing that class. Plus there are some relics that are definitely more over-powered than others, like the fire spear.

Eventually I started to realize that when it comes to multiplayer, there are going to be some "cookie-cutter" approaches to victory. I'm familiar with that sort of thing from most multiplayer games, especially those that involve skill variations and combinations. But once cookie-cutter strategies become prevailent in mutliplayer competition, I start to lose interest.

Another problem I faced is that currently The Unspoken is primarily a multiplayer game. If it were single-player I would play it more, and definitely recommend it. Compared to say, Dead and Buried, which allows players to play through all the "boss levels" alone. That, at the very least, makes the game worthwhile (imo) even if you don't like multi-player.

If The Unspoken ever releases an update that allows 3 distinct campaigns for the 3 different character classes (similar to StarCraft), then this game would be highly recommended (and I presume: highly acclaimed). Until then, I'd probably recommend waiting until the price drops a bit more.

I was looking forward to it but I got it for free and played it once or twice.

1. It has no single player. Just some AI you can practice against.

2 There is not much variety in terms of classes and spells

3. You can only move between fixed spots. It seem so artificial.

That's what killed it for me.  It's like an arena game.  Too bad it's not a dungeon crawler with similar mechanics.
Rift-S, Quest 128GB, GO 64GB.

Thanks for
the feedback. I will most likely give it a miss now.

Most
points are not total deal breakers for me but in total it sounds like it is not
worth it.

The pure
multiplayer part is what bothers me most. It would have been so easy to
implement at least a very simple single player campaign where you fight the different
classes on increasing difficulties.
I saw
this as a great Idea for a VR variation of a street fighter / mortal combat
style game and they were all single player originally.

I enjoyed it, and yes this is now a single player story mode.

This is a great VR Experience, in both multiplayer and single player.
