Can't update Oculus App

HELP!!!! I tried to update Oculus and it won't update. I went to the Google Play Store to update and I don't see Oculus listed. How am I suppose to update the app? When I click on the app on my Galaxy S7 all it does is attempt to update and goes back to the screen and ask to update app.

I'm afraid to uninstall because I don't see the Oculus app in the Play Store to reinstall. Will someone please provide some options on how to update? I can't use the Gear VR because the app won't update. So frustrated....

I did! Without opening the oculus app I just snapped the gear onto my phone. One I heard  voice of instruction, I took it off and followed the screen instructions and after the t, the same upgrade screen came upwith a button to update. It works!

What do you mean "after the t, the same upgrade screen came up"

After the phone goes in the gear, it keeps telling me to remove it and upgrade the oculus app, but the screen that comes up, doesn't have an update bottom.

Typo sorry leave "out after the t". I had the same screen come up but this time I had the update button. You may try force stopping the application and clear its  cache, restart your phone. Then snap on the gear and see what happens. I did it all in no particular order.

The oculus app doesn't allow to get to the update option screen. It has been stuck on the screen with the guy wearing the gear and looking at his hand. I've tried uninstalling, clearing cache, enabling the app manager and installer for Facebook. Nothing seems to work. Anybody wanna buy a gently used Gear VR?

Same here. What a surprise. I have had nothing but problems trying to use oculus app. Now it says it needs to be updated, without giving a way to update on galaxy s7. Phone is updated. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times along with Samsung gear vr and facebook. Of course Oculus gives no help.

I got it lads, sound stupid but try this:
-go to settings and reduce the font size ( i put the second smallest)
    -restart the phone
-go to oculus and you will find the button for the update!

Sorry about that. You may need to reduce your Android font size to normal in order to update the application. We will be resolving the issue shortly, but that is the work-around for the time being. Thanks.

I found out the problem. Resolution is to large on the phone. Oculus has you enlarge to use the VR but when you go to use your phone it is too big to see the whole screen. when I realize it I changed the resolution and there was the update button at the bottom of the screen. Problem solved.

While anticipating Cylindrical TimeWarp Layers update to Oculus Home I received a Oculus Engine update but that was it... anyone had similar experience?

after plugging into the head set it said to unplug and update oculus software following the guide.  Unfortunately every time I try it will not allow the 4 updates.  It just comes back to the original update screen and says update.  Anyone have a solution?

I'm having the same issue.  Can't get the 4 updates.  Let my phone sit for 15 minutes and nothing happened.

Has any solution been offered by Samsung or Oculus for this issue?
I've tried everything suggested here and on other forums to no success.

I have submitted a ticket and am waiting for a response.

UPDATE - Support suggested that I enable the Facebook App Manager and Facebook App Installer. This resolved the issue.

    They can't be serious???????
I have to load Facebook crap on my phone to make Oculus work???????
What is going through these idiot's minds. They push updates that brick the unit and you are then forced to load INSECURE apps and sign up for garbage you don't want or need?

COULD BE TIME TO RE-EVALUATE THIS GARBAGE SUPPLIER!
    Oculus GearVR - Pfffft!

Updates have bricked the goggles.... All I get is "Oculus has crashed" again and again, great.
Inbetween crashes it tells me to enable wifi which I don't have in order to upgrade Oculus.
So I go to friend's house with wifi and get EXACTLY the same messages appear in my bricked goggles.
This is absolutely ridiculous as there is no upgrade path to rectify this. I raised a case but feel this will simply be ignored.
The software developers responsible for this shamozzle should be ashamed of themselves as should the managers that hired them in the first place. This should be totally EMBARRASSING for Oculus and all staff and companies associated with them.
The last time the device was bricked I put it back in the box and didn't bother pulling them out for several months and by then they fixed that particular upgrade path and it started working again. Is that the case again, wait several months for these clowns to fix it?
I would like a refund on the hardware as well as all the apps I have purchased but what are the chances of that happening - Zilch!

This is like amateur hour at the preschool pantomime! Sheesh.

    A very unhappy Oculus customer.

Im having a similar problem, except I see and use the update button. It goes through all the downloads, but once it finishes, it comes back to the update page. I have tried multiple uninstalls/reinstalls, rebooting, and clearing cache. Nothing works.
    I have a Samsung Note5, running 7.0, non-rooted.

I have the exact same situation (Samsung Note 5 running 7.0 as well). I have ensured that the facebook app/installer is enabled when updating and tried cache clearing etc but still no fix
