Games typically take 3-5 years to develop. We're talking a good game with 20+ hours of playtime. We just celebrated VR's 1 year anniversary, so we still have 2 years minimum to go. I know some people feel that development could have started back during the DK1 and DK2 days, but it isn't just Time that is a factor, but Cost. Someone has to pay an entire team 3-5 years worth of salary and employee benefits. The free monetary handouts from Facebook/Oculus didn't really start until about 1.5 years ago.So... we get short experiences while we wait.In other news: I'm still waiting to drive Flying Cars. Why is this taking so long to make? In the meantime it looks like I will end up with a car that drives itself soon.
It doesn't take much to add some levels and a little narrative.
