Day 13 Still No Chromecast Feature

Day 13 and still no Chromecast feature anywhere. Am I missing something? I've seen the app update multiple times since my last post, but I've searched everywhere for cast button but can't find it. Where is the button supposed to be located? I can cast to the chromecast with Google Home, but I would really love to use the Oculus casting feature.

    See this article:

However, the update may still be rolling out for some people so be patient.

Why can't we force an update? Why don't you publish the version level required so we know if we need to "be patient" or if we actually have the right version and it's some other issue keeping it from working.

EXACTLY what version of the software is required to cast Gear VR to a chromecast gizmo?

    Samsung Galaxy S8+
    Gear VR
    Chromecast gizmo
    Android 7.0
    Google Home 1.23.35.2
    Oculus 3.12.0.4.50

Do I have what I need to display my VR screen onto a TV via chromecast or not?

I got the icon yesterday. Here are my specs:

    S7
    Android 7
    Android TV
    Google Home v.1.23.35.2
    Oculus 3.13.0.14.118
    Oculus System Driver 1.6.2-60960672

If I recall correctly, there weren't any updates the morning that I woke up and found the icon there. (The 3.13 update happened at least one day prior to the icon showing up if I'm remembering right.)

Is the in icon only visible when in the same network as the chromecast?

I have exactly the same specs (only chromecast in stead of android TV)

    Edit:
    It's working for me too!
But there is no sound in game. I hear sound in the menu but when entering a game all sound stop.

Humm these are the same versions I have. I even updated my chrome cast last night as well. I tried all the suggestions I've seen online of starting something else casting first etc. Nothing seems to make the cast icon show in my app. I wonder if its less about a version and its like that other button they added that time where they roll out the enabling of the flag already built in in to the app in waves.

Maybe the add the option the same wat as Samsung deploy updates.
So the option will be enabled to the phone a and not through software update.

Day 27.000015 still no Chromecast. I'm beginning to wonder if it was all just a dream or some crazy hoax. Maybe the pealing paint on the wall was a sign of things to come. That or maybe i'm just crazy just like father had always told me. I guess we'll just have to see now won't we...  :|

Bought the Chromecast to stream gear to the TV but no button to cast my content in Oculus. Is there going to be an update for this? Be patient?

    Android 7
    Gear VR
    Google Home     1.24.33.6
    Oculus       3.13.0.14.118

Day 30 and still no chromecast. I'm starting to question if somewhere in the past month I've accidentally opened a portal to an alternate universe where I am now trapped in. A alternate universe where Oculus chromecast feature doesn't exist. Come to think of it, that one morning when I woke up something didn't seem right, I woke up and craved green tea instead of coffee. I'm beginning to question everything, is the cake really just a lie?

I'm with you. I get updates regularly and still no Casting. It's silly not to provide the files or the build numbers with this feature

Oculus disables the function due to known issues.
Not sure what issue and when they enable it again.

Day Unknown. I have begun to losing track of time now. However, I have made contact with an official who goes by Winston. Information is unconfirmed as sources are saying feature is disabled but the official statement is that it's still being rolled out:

    Hi,

Thanks for contacting Oculus Support today.

Support for Chromecast will be rolled out over weeks or months for users. Because of this, we can't give you a specific time frame as to when you will get it.

When you do receive Chromecast, you can find information on using it with your Gear VR by clicking here.

You can also check out the Oculus Blog for updates and new releases. If you would like to take a look, please click here.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Sincerely,

    Winston

Second line told me last week:

Thanks for your patience while this ticket was reviewed and escalated to me.

We currently disabled Chromecast due to a known issue. We are working on a fix and hope to have it back up for everyone shortly.

Thank you for your understanding and have a wonderful weekend.

    and just now this email:

At this time we do not have a specific date or time when it will be fixed.

I am sorry I couldn't provide more details about it but hopefully it will be resolve very soon.

The chromecast option is back in my oculus

There was an update on my galaxy S7 but I doubt it is related to the chromecast.

I tried the chromecast option, frankly you arn't missing anything. I didn't find any app that didn't disable audio while casting so unless you are explicitly guiding a client through in a work station like environment, it isn't going to be an enjoyable experience for the vr user. I was thinking I could use it as a way to guide first time vr users to quickly get used to using some apps and games while they can still enjoy the immersive audio but no such luck.

Its a work in progress but hugely disappointing atm.
