Patch Highlights

Skill-Based Matchmaking

We're testing out our skill-based matchmaking during this Open Beta, so please make sure to send us your feedback! Additionally, we have disabled region-locking so now you can play cross-region as long as your ping isn't too high when connecting to other region's dedicated servers.

Network Optimization and Stability Improvements

After gathering a ton of useful date from our first Open Beta, we were able to pinpoint many different areas to optimize our network code and improve the stability of our services. For those of you who experienced network-related issues in the previous Open Beta, please let us know if you see any difference.

Progression

The progression system is now fully online with an Open Beta level cap of 15. Level up by playing matches in Echo Arena, then unlock new customization options. If you'd like to equip a customization option that's locked, click on it to see what the level requirement is.

Profile Service

Your outfits and settings will now save (this was broken in the previous Open Beta). Time to put on your fancy tints and patterns! 🙂

Leaderboards

Global leaderboards are now online for five different possible categories. To be eligible to show up on the leaderboard, you will need to complete five matches. Only the top 10 are shown for each category worldwide... GLHF!

  • Optimized bandwidth usage of VOIP.
  • Entrances to different "rooms" in the lobby are now more visually distinct.

Settings

  • Graphic settings will now default to "Medium".
  • Controls diagram is now present in the settings menu.
  • Tooltips have been added.

UI

  • There's now a speaker icon that appears on the nametag above players so it's easier to discern who's talking.
  • If servers are down, the Play button on the main menu will now be disabled.
  • The main menu notice board no longer has hardcoded text and can be updated on the fly for the latest and greated information.

Known Issues

Critical

  • You may experience a black/star-screen when transitioning from post-match to the lobby or when entering the game. Restarting the game client will resolve this. We are actively working on a fix.
  • You may see no options available to select/no UI on the main menu. Please try restarting your game client to resolve this. We are actively working on a fix.
  • Servers do not appear to be scaling which can result in login and matchmaking errors since they're getting hugged too hard. Working on a fix.

General

  • If you're more than a half-court away from the disc, it may disappear from view. Getting closer to it will make it reappear. Gotta go fast!
  • If there's significantly lag in a game, the disc could get "stuck" in a wall or other hard object. Try pulling it out if this happens, as that may resolve it.

UI

  • Only 3 out of the 4 post-match awards will appear. The one that doesn't appear will look like a black box.
  • The post-match XP awards that appear on your Arm Computer don't match the actual values being given.
  • The post-match XP awards that appear on your Arm Computer may say you were victorious when you were, in fact, defeated soundly.
  • UI markers in the lobby are currently invisible. They're not supposed to be.
  • Arm Computer is a work-in-progress; there will be more updates to it over the weekend to improve functionality! 🙂

Audio

  • Arena announcer can be heard repeating "One!" in the lobby after transitioning back from the arena.
