Are there any apps that emulate flying an RC drone?

360 cameras can do this, and it can be watched in VR. I've done it with my 360 Fly.

I'm not sure how many 360 cameras exist on the market that can be strapped to a drone and live-streamed in 360 format (e.g. so we can watch it with a Gear VR). But that would be cool! I'd love to do this some day.

In 2D there are, at least for aircraft, using a special transmitter that has an output to a pc.  That would be an interesting project to be able to use your generic RC transmitter to control a game object.  I can see using the receiver to feed the pulse inputs of an Arduino or Pi and creating analog outputs that can be serial out to do what a game controller does.

Ah I see where you are coming from..
I had a helicopter training program - forget what it was called - i just plugged my Radio Controller (RC) into my PC so as to fly a virtual heli or plane.
Yes it would be great to have that ability in 3d/VR..
Hope someone finds a way to do it it.. but i guess there's no money in it for development?
