So, I finally gave in and bought Skyrim VR and I'm impressed how well it's done.
Originally I played as rogue/archer type, this time I decided to go full melee and got disappointed.  :/
Shield and sword are so bad that it's almost unplayable for me. Well, that leaves me only one choice, become a mage... or just go back to my old trusty bow and arrow...

Yeah I feel the same way about the combat. But I love playing an archer/mage

@RedRizla, as asked elsewhere, here is my modlist. Be aware that a good portion of the mods have options inside their installers which you need to be aware of when installing. Always try to read the description area of the mods 'Nexus' page for important info, plus read the 'Posts' area also for important info from users + creators. Modding can take a while but is well worth it. As in everything, the amount of time put into modding/testing will reward you with the same back in quality gameplay + visuals. Patience is always a factor. If you are only looking for modding visuals then you'll need to check each one at the Nexus website as you preview them. Many, many of these mods are new locations, dungeons, etc... so you many not be interested in them as of yet, but they are extremely fun if you do.

Make sure your system can handle the amount of mods listed if you choose to do so. If not, you may experience different levels of lag, low fps, freezes, etc... One more thing, for visuals, make sure you have enough video card ram if running 4k or 2k textures.

Oh yes, one last thing...make sure to download and use OpenComposite when running SkyrimVR. It will provide at least 20% better performance than SteamVR when running SkyrimVR modded. Grab the launcher though as you can then switch between running OpenComposite or SteamVR as needed.

Just got some Vulcan update for Skyrim VR, anyone tried it?
Intel i7 7700K (4.5 GHz); MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Gaming X (oc 2100 MHz gpu boost, 11 GHz mem speed); 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 MHz; MSI Z270I Gaming Pro Carbon AC (VR-Ready) mainboard; Samsung 960 Evo M.2 SSD + Toshiba P300 HD; Windows 10 OS; Valve Index and Oculus Rift CV1 - the latter nearly always using super sampling 2.0.

Has anybody had this? I see it in the game under my feet ever since I completed the Dawnstar nightmares quest with Erandur (I think it is). Haven't seen it before and now it wont go away. It seems to randomly grow and shrink as I walk along. Doesn't interfere with gameplay but it's a little distracting. It looks a little like a sideways helmet made of ice. I call it the Phantom Ice Helmet. Haven't installed any new mods lately. In fact, I had to disable the Dawnstar Overhaul mod which makes Dawnstar more like a proper city because Erandur couldn't figure out how to get out of the modded town so he could lead me to Nightcaller Temple!

I thought this issue might be VR specific, so that's the reason I am asking here. Another issue I had been having all along is what I call the Phantom Skybeams. It's beams of light that project skyward from areas you've been to on the landscape and can be seen from miles around. You can actually walk up to them, and they are very blinding. It turns out that issue IS VR specific. I found out on the Reddit forums that it is actually the map markers that appear on the landscape, but happens only in the VR version.

I haven't seen either of those issues but its been a while as I had to rebuild my PC. Do you have any mods that update the maps?

I only have the one mod that shows the roads on the map.

I found the answer to the "Phantom Ice Helmet" on Reddit. It's not a VR only issue, but an unwanted magic after-effect LOL.

I had a weird experience playing Skyrim VR last night. I was in this cave with Serana, no one else around, when suddenly, through my Oculus headphones, I hear a man cough loudly into my ears (hope he didn't have Coronavirus). Like I said, I was in a cave with only Serana. No, no one else was in the household. I was all by myself.

You read that right. I clearly, distinctly and loudly heard someone cough into my oculus headphones. This is on my third playthrough of Skyrim VR, and this is the FIRST and only time I EVER had an experience like this!!!

I decided that, rather than Mark Zuckerberg eavesdropping on me, it most likely had something to do with the latest mod I installed, Legend of the Dragonborn. But it sure creeped the hell out of me.

I haven't played in nearly a year due to other priorities, but the mod is actually called Legacy of the Dragonborn and I think it has it's own NPC's that travel to different areas of the game...if I remember correctly. It could just be a glitch in the game though...especially since we are all modding the snot out of it...LOL!! Something weird is bound to happen with all that modding. Definitely creepy with the state of things though...

I miss playing Skyrim VR. after I rebuilt my computer I never installed it. But I remember having so much fun.
The first time a bear charged at me scared the crap out of me. Ok I got the bug, will be installing it this weekend.

When I was playing highly modded, the first time I had the giant spiders in one of the caves jumped down from above I nearly shit my pants and actually let out a scream, my skipped a beat (felt like lightning struck me). I even new they were there from playing flatrim...but still that was quite intense...LOL!!

I agree I put 100 hours on skyrim  on playstation vr  then when pcvr skyrim came out 10 hours which was more awsome in room scale. Why only 10 hours? Well suddenly many awsome made for vr games came out. Fallout is great on pc. Borderlands on playstation vr was good but I stopped playing it because it will be better on pc. I'm now playing half life alex but hope to have time to get back to all 3 u mentioned eventually.

I was walking through the first cave with the spiders and I heard a dark elf voice from somewhere. Very odd..

Yeah i have stopped playing Skyrim and BL2 VR on the PSVR once i bought the PC versions, best HMD to play them on bar none for me is the CV1 with those fantastic controllers, then the Vive even without thumbsticks on those wands the track is the best, and the PSVR is way last due to the worst vr controllers to date, with the worst tracking, but fine in a push if all you got for VR is the PS4, but once you taste PCVR there is no going back.

HL:A is amazing, but i stopped playing it just because at this point i have such a back cat of VR games to get through, the three i mentioned are just chock full of content, i have no idea when i will be finished with BL2 VR, i am still on my first charactor run through at level 47 and i have just over 40 hours play time. lol

192 hours of Skyrim VR (modded) so far. VR version of this game is worth of buying ES5 again. Especially when you mod it. Most of Special edition mods works on VR too.

I've just installed Wabbajack for Skyrim VR and installed the VR Essentials mods. 400 altogether. Looks AMAZING so far, but one caveat is that due to it using the VR IK mod you can't really do the vanilla start which is a bit annoying.

You can get it from here:

    https://www.wabbajack.org/

Unless you want to spend a week installing all of the mods manually you'll want to fork out 4 or 5 quid for a month's worth of Premium access to the Nexus website. Doing this will download and install everything automatically in an hour or so once you set everything up if you have Skyrim VR and your mods both being installed on an SSD.

I was a bit reticent to forking out the cash cos I'm a bit of a tightarse lol, but then I thought, fuck it. I've been a member of that website about a year after it was first created so I don't mind giving them a few quid considering the entertainment I've had from the thing.

I finally beat SkyrimVR (main quest and both DLC's) about a month ago. I think I'm officially retiring from this title. It was a lovely experience in VR. I never cared for the vanilla version of the game. Morrowind is still the best of the Elder Scrolls imo. But SkyrimVR was a treat, and a great reminder of how VR can enhance an experience.

I can't play this bloody game. I keep on installing it. Modding the crap out of it. Starting to play it. Then deciding...NOT. ENUFF. MODS. And then starting the process again 😂😂😂

That's why Wabbajack is going to be so useful. There's 400 mods so I can't see myself wanting to install any more lol 😂
