Oculus GO selling like hotcakes on amazon.com

LZoltowskiLZoltowski Posts: 6,774 Volunteer Moderator
It's number 6 and 7 respectively in the ENTIRE video games section on Amazon (that is a top tier section and includes everything else, like PC,VR, PS4 etc) . Also looks like 64GB is more popular.

Same because like you I am still waiting for mine to be delivered. No tracking email yet, but it was processed sharpish yesterday evening. Amazon would have delivered it today using Prime.

i suppose that depends if they did any research into the product they bought or just bought in ignorance.
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR :)

    so oculus go:

    1. has no motion controls (buzzer sound)
    2. is expected to be worn in public??! (buzzer sound)
    3. is not upgradeable (buzzer sound)

really wish Oculus would just STAHP as the millenials say, trying to sell out and wasting R&D on such pointless half ass devices. VR is already a huge half ass cock tease for the past 4 years as it is.

Crap like this isnt going to “jump start” mainsteam adoption of VR, its just going to make people disappointed that it sucks. VR needs to be all in or nothing to captivate someone. These devices that allow movies/porn and FACEBOOk logins will be looked at yesrs from now as true, utterly embarrassing and desperate attempts to sell out to people who dont even play games (and probably have made fun of gamers their whole lives)

    what a colossal waste.

I noticed that there is NO oculus app on the ios store yet in the UK, perhaps they are holding shipping until it goes live?

£329? Pah - why not go the whole hog and get the 64GB version for another hundred quid?

    Rip-offs-r-us

    £429 - that's $585

Edit: According to The Standard, we will pay like-for-like (see name of link above) yet again, at £199 ($272)

    Standard

At least they sound like they are hyping it up a bit, though.

    This is uneducated  bollox, though:

At the moment, many VR headsets are heavy and painful to wear for too long, disrupting the user experience. If Oculus has fixed this problem with the Go headset, it will be a clear winner for the company.

    EVERYONE TO ZENBANE'S HOUSE!

I live an Texas, and as expected, I have a lot of square footage in my 2-story home. I could even build a spare 1-bedroom loft in the backyard. So yeah, come on over! Plenty of room for everyone. Well, almost everyone lol

Wow ... Can it be used for mining as well ? :open_mouth:

This is good for Oculus and VR in general. In the long run at least.

I'm surprised the ignore list is limited to 5  :p

Anyway I'm happy to see this thing selling well so far. I'm not sure how many were shipped to my local Bestbuys but many were "Few left in stock" in my 1 hour drive radius.

    Question for the Mods,
So is there a point to where we can start applying the Forum Rules a bit more consistently?

Yes, I think that point is today. @danknugz account is in jail for 2 weeks. If he continues again the penalty may be more severe next time. Thanks.
    You’re our hero.

Glad to see that its selling so well.

For some perspective, my first personal computer, if you could call it that, was an MOS Technologies, 6502, 1 MHz CPU based, KIM1 purchased in 1976. It had 1152 bytes (~1k) of RAM, a 6 digit hexidecimal LED display, a 23 button key pad for program and data entry and initially had to be programmed using hand assembled hexidecimal code. If I remember correctly, it cost $595, a month's salary for me at the time. In comparison the Oculus Go is a science fiction fantasy come to life. And, while not perfect it is another step in the evolution of the man machine interface that will continue to evolve in richness and capability. I think that it is a milestone because of its cost and portability. In this day and age, milestones are quickly superceeded and the cost of a used Go will drop below $50 within the year as more capable competitors emerge. All the more fodder for the hacker side of me. Just my two cents worth.

You sound almost as old as me. My first computer was by Commodore Pet 64. You had to write the code then save it on a tape. Only worked about half the time. The progress since then has been spectacular. I agree this is a journey that really never ends.
The Oculus GO is a great step in the right direction.
    Love mine.
