Well I can't see anything but the Oculus Go winning the Best Headset award, unless the judges are a bit dodgy :p :D

The list for VR game of the year seems pretty weak.

The fact that Fallout 4 VR and Skyrim VR are at the top proves that Oculus should focus more on porting games.

Imagine how much better FO4 VR and Skyrim VR could have been with more effort?

Most of the games I play in VR are ports. Elite Dangerous, IL-2 BoS and Project Cars 2 are all ports and they account for the vast majority of my VR play time.

I'd love Capcom to port Resident Evil 7 VR. Even a quick and dirty port using a gamepad only would have me happy.

It's important that we all understand that a shortlist like these are not just the "best" but also the most recognised entrants know between a panel of specialist that have varied interests. I am always wonder what the layman thinks the role of a judging panel is - rather than just create a list, they need to create a narrative of a sectors performance.

I have organised and directed enough industry award shows to know that judging is a complicated process, there are scorecards, rules, safeguards to protect from bias, tonnes of research etc. It's a long and drawn out process, some closed-door meetings took many days and late nights and a lot of sushi. A lot of weight is put on the judge to remain impartial and just look at the facts, not an easy job.

About the same for me, there are not many days that go by without me spending time in VR.
IL-2, DCS, ED get probably 99% of my VR time. I will play them for hours at a time.

It's a shame games like Il-2 DCS ED Pcars2 Assetto Corsa & all the other sims supporting VR don't get much recognition from these guys. And how is Pixel Ripped in there? I didn't think it was out.
    no...
    Moss
    In Death
    KIN
    The Lost bear
    From Other Suns
    Karnage

but at least shooty fruity is there.

Yep, it's not out yet. It comes out in about 2.5 weeks.
According to the VR Awards website category FAQ:  "Must be released by 1st July 2018"
So Pixel Ripped shouldn't be in the list.

Games released after 6th may 2017 are accepted, which is why Lone Echo and Paranormal Activity (both 2017 games) are in the 2018 list.

    .

Nice thing about being a Judge @kojack, we can fight the corner of the infractions - rather than just carp about them - so yes the five games on the "Shortlist" that have not come out will be removed following the voting process. Though some that claim they may release early will be re-evaluated. Shortlist is not a final list!
