Dash Issue Fix for Latest Nvidia Driver and Intel CPUs

cyberealitycybereality Posts: 25,833 Oculus Staff
Customers with Nvidia graphics and an Intel processor on certain driver versions may experience compatibility issues with Oculus Dash. Specifically, if you have the latest Nvidia driver installed, 411.63, and also use an Intel chip with integrated graphics, you'll need to install the following Intel driver to avoid issues in Dash.

Oh no..... it's starting to feel like the 90's again.
One peripheral using a particular driver on a particular video card with a certain cpu needs a fix.

Wouldn't it be better to fix the "one peripheral" device that doesn't behave correctly?

P.S. Thanks for the heads up. It's rumoured that several people use nvidia/intel combos.

P.P.S. Could you tell us what the issue with Dash is?

I agree with Richooal, I would like to know what the issue is exactly. I have the problematic combination and I was planning on upgrading the NVidia drivers to 411.63...

Yea, I have the same combination as well.
When I tried to run that driver/patch it just said my system didn't meet the requirements. Maybe that's because I don't use the integrated graphics? So is it JUST if you have the Intel's graphics enabled?
(I was just in Home and used dash with the monitor pull out. Everything seemed to run fine.)

We need to select the correct IRQ, decide if your particular Intel CPU is Soundblaster compatible or not, then insert Disk 6 into A:\

Just disabled mine as well, now I'm not sure if it was this or if Oculus 1.31 fixed the stutter i was having in home.
Unrelated to this topic, have you noticed your sig says that you have "2x 4GB WD Black" hard drives.

I think the usual method of using the previous driver may have been expected rather than specific patches to our cpu. I still use 388.13 as selected by Win10 fresh install but I choose not to use DASH so it doesn't need constant updating as a GINUE PIG!

So, I did the updates (Oculus 1.31, Nvidia 411.70 and that Intel iGPU update), sadly it didn't solve the issue.
Hopefully the next updates will solve this issue. Oculus Desktop is very useful as I don't have to put off the headset just to check the monitor...

EDIT: FIXED! I went in the Device Manager, and just downloaded the latest driver for the iGPU. It seems the one posted here doesn't solve the issue with 411.70.

EDIT2 : I can't believe this shit. This morning, I launch my computer, update Rec Room, and try to run Oculus Desktop... that fucking black screen is back again! With no other changes than Rec Room update?!!! Back to square one for no fucking reason! Jeez... I tried that Intel patch again, with no luck. I lost it (and I'm talking about both the Oculus Desktop and my mind...).

The problem isn't Dash, it's the updates that break what originally works with no problem. I swear whenever I do an update it's like I'm throwing a coin: 50% chance it makes things better, 50% chance it makes things worse and even breaks other software.

I've updated to 411.70 and its still telling me to update or reinstall. It's apparently not checking the graphics cards, its just a warning with a unclearable notice.
The "Nvidia users on driver 411.63 with Intel integrated graphics should update their Intel graphics driver here.)"doesn't make sense because either you use the Intel on board drivers or the Nvidia graphics why do they mention both????

Sadly, two softwares can conflict with each other, even if they don't seem related at first sight. I guess this is the root of the issue...

Rolled the dice and came out a loser on this one.  After updating to 411.70, games no longer launch.  The home interface launches fine but after clicking on a title, it goes to the splash screen for a few seconds and then drops me back into the home screen.

The Oculus games give me nothing but the Steam games generate an error log with the following: "XYZgame.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)".  Haven't tried troubleshooting yet - or rather, visiting this thread was step 1.  I'll try to update after unsorting this.

Too bad, try again :D .
Did you update Oculus to 1.31 as well? That's what breaks some apps. I wasn't able to launch Dead&Buried and Tilt Brush (and no one, I say NO ONE, prevents me from launching Tilt Brush).

Personally, I reverted all back. NVidia 398 and Oculus 1.30 work like a charm.

@cybereality - I would agree with this request-

Screen goes black ? Certain games wont start? No games start? Core 2 home errors? Rift has jitters/stutters? Error messages appear? Application crashes? Just weird stuff?

I've just updated to Nvidia 411.70 and as soon as that finished Oculus self updated to 1.31. No apps work now. I tried all the suggested troubleshooting guides without any luck, clean install as well as uninstall and fresh instal. I even tried going back to 398.11 version without any result. How do you revert to Oculus 1.30?

System: Intel i7 3.2GHZ, Ram: 28 GB, GEfroce GTX 1080Ti running Windows 8.1

UPDATE: Issue still ongoing. Contacted support. Ticket number #609551

UPDATE: Clean installed Nvidia 390.77 (older driver from January release); Rebooted the whole system and now it's working again. The red line warning is gone and apps are functioning normally on quick inspection. Fingers crossed it keeps.

    Hey folks,

If you're still experiencing issues can you please reach out to Oculus Support and then post up your ticket here so we can take a look at your logs and give you steps on how to collect Vulkan logs which we'd like to review?

    Thanks!

    +1 for this issue.
Getting "Oculus has detected a problem with your graphics drivers" message on Oculus menu. And now black screen of doom. AGAIN.
I rebuilt my whole PC from scratch because of issues I was having with Oculus and AMD. and finally it was working again.

When I tried to run that driver/patch mentioned above it just said my system didn't meet the requirements too. I'm also guessing this is because I'm not using integrated graphics. I checked this in Bio and I don't have the most comprehensive Bios options (MSI bios 5) but it looks like I had integrated graphics automatically disabled once I set up my Quattro P4000.

I've messaged support. Just posting here for solidarity because I've had nothing but issues with my Oculus and this forum has helped a lot in the past. I'm not changing my PC again, if I have to chose between my current GPU and the Rift....I'll go PSVR.

+1 for this issue as well.

    Running on:
    CPU - Intel i5 3570K
    GPU - nVidia GTX 1080
    Oculus Version - 1.31.0.686553

Updated to latest nVidia 416.16 drivers, uninstall, clean installation. Re-ran Oculus setup, a pop up shows up redirecting me to the following page: https://support.oculus.com/836193806590425/?locale=en_US&ref=oculus-pc-app.

I've tried to install video drivers for Intel graphics, but my system doesn't meet minimum specifications likely due to not having the integrated graphics enabled.

Just bought Skyrim VR, was able to see the intro/title screen in a windowed app on the monitor, but nothing through the Rift VR headset. The Oculus app itself shows "Oculus has detected a problem with your graphics drivers. Learn More".

----Fixed: Cliff notes: Install older GPU driver like 388.71-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql etc---

just "clean installed", aug 1st Nviida driver (1080 here) still same error, going with the oldest driver listed of 397.64 (https://www.nvidia.com/drivers/beta

There must be a thousands people between the possibility of this error and the error occurring globally...
How can versions be pushed out to production live and not work?

When I run the intel update it says i dont have any product suitable or what ever.

Also cybereality you need to post a proper tech note with the items of software which work in combination.

Which most recent nvidia driver works with which most recent version of Oculus
    Post links
Work on the issue in the back end.

i am down here not able to use Oculus.

Will reboot after fresh install of 397.64
    oculas app
    1.31.0.686553

Will also hunt for previous version of Oculas app?

That didn't work, best thing I can do here is install the latest versions of every thing, test again , then submit a ticket with the logs for the greater good then hopefully next weekend I can use my headset.

    Edit: Ok fixed.
I installed every thing the latest version, including the Oculus "patch".
Then downloaded: 388.71-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql (nvidia older driver).
    Clean install of the 388.
works no issue i am able to start Onward with out that red bar line reporting a driver issue in Oculus GUI

Doing support through the mess of a forums where everybody posts and interacts is undoable, and believe me I worked in an international support team for more than 20 years. Opening a ticket and having one interlocutor and been able to provide individual logs and feedback is far more professional and effective. So be mature and open a support ticket, that will help IMHO.

So that could not be the same problem ;) and believe me you don't have to install a Intel patch for a device you don't even have :)
