Hey all, we are proud to announce coming later this year is our Arcade shooter game, reminiscent of an old title called Time crisis you will shoot your way through multiple levels taking on end of level bosses along the way!.

This game will be a complete rail shooter keeping to the theme along with power ups and weapons akin to game of old.
Everything from being on the back of a vehicle to ducking behind boxes and walls it is sure to bring back that nostalgia feeling.

This is NOT a time crisis port nor is it the same game it is a more up to date game with the classic arcade shooter feel.
A final note, this Is not meant to be a realistic shooter game, there is no amazing reload, nor is there any top of the range physics etc, you cannot pull back the slider or throw clips to another person.. it is not about that, its about bringing the old arcade feel back. As of the time I write this there are more enemies that fill the level this is just a taste to play.

To play just run MGSStrike.exe, file is in a rar format

BUTTONS ARE SIMPLE , Right trigger fire, left X button duck and reload, you reload whilst ducking and you cannot be hurt. Release X button to come out of cover and shoot.

Link to download  : https://www.dropbox.com/s/8i7vgyx89y5vge6/MGSStrike.rar?dl=0

Would defo like feedback but please remember it is completely Just me making this so lets not get silly lol but to add more guns are in the current version like a sub machine gun etc..

In the release version there will be a system to stop motion sickness and also a left handed option.

IMPORTANT, OCULUS ONLY AT THE MOMENT VIVE WILL BE ADDED

Thanks, yeah from testing so far is very fun and fast paced. It is nice to take a break from gun customisation etc.. just to have a straight shooter in which if you want a sub machine gun or shotty you have to wait for the power up and once the depletes its back to a handgun. Feels fun.

To add, there will be multiple guns but only by means of power up also different ammo power ups too, no shop nothing, the only way to get these guns/ammo is when the power up is shot.

Also forgot in the beginning post, this will be a 2 player coop game.

Oh god, I remember this but never got to play it.
Funny, I just got nostalgic about my childhood arcade experiences in another thread.

Never got to play it as I spended my coins on other games I just had to beat.

Guess soon I will have a chance to play a similar experience, but in VR :PoggerS:

It's funny how perspective changes. I happily paid... £75 I think for a guncon2 and a copy of time crisis on the PS1. I think only half a dozen games ever supported it and I never regretted it. With inflation in today's money I bet you could double that cost to compare.

Fantastic, I've always liked lightgun games. The best of the lot was CarnEvil imo, with all of the House Of The Dead games coming a close second. I'm going to be all over this once it's been released.

These sort of games were given a small revival after the Wii console released, it saw a few decent ports and a few new games too - Dead Space Extraction, House Of The Dead Overkill and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles - that last one was probably the best of the lot I think because I've always been a HUUUUUUUGE fan of the Resident Evil games since playing the first one on the PS1 in the late 90s.

Operation wolf and thunderbolt were ace.
Don't forget retro arcade neon to play these games, free demo on steam
Also maybe check out operation warcade.
(Sorry detracting from OP now, hopefully this thread shows there is a demand for these titles)

Yup, I'd be interested to see some streams if you can manage it.

Are you using Blueprints or going balls to the wall with c++?

I'm using Blueprints for my game, or at least I will be once I finish my models.

Hey, tbh this is a little pet project of mine, so I have been the only one working on it, I am using a mixture of C++ and blueprints but currently 90% BP The game is rough atm but I have only been working on it a few weeks.
I am adding a link to a download of a basic level.
Just to address before it is mentioned, YES there have been purchased assets used in some of the game but it is what you do with them that matters, there is a lot of custom models and all the coding and scripting is from scratch, from the spawning to the gun scripts and there is a lot of custom coding in this trust me.

This is created for fun and not much more, I am currently working on some more maps and have made a lot of adjustments to the playable map like spawning etc.. got a cracking nightclub map with awesome tunes.

I hope you like it so far and I will be making this into a full game :) for full release.

Snowdog, Of course if it would help you out with anything I am more than happy to stream, or even if you need assistance just throw me a message.

Demo seems pretty good so far -- here's my feedback, even though I'm sure a lot of it is stuff you've already considered:

Gun angle seems off for touch controllers.  In my opinion, it should be pointed lower, but the best way to make everyone happy would be to make it adjustable.

I like the "crouch to reload" mechanic, but as this is VR, I'm sure a lot of people would like to be able to physically crouch rather than press a button.  It can also be uncomfortable knowing you are standing straight up but having the view snap to a lower head position.  Is there a way to make lowering your head a certain distance trigger the "reload" function?  Or maybe just have an option to not make the reload button move your head down?  I noticed that physically crouching did provide cover, so I was very happy to see that.

Last piece is comfort while moving to different positions.  I think I have above average resilience to VR sickness, but the movement in the demo was quite uncomfortable.  Again, my suggestion would be more options:  Some people would prefer a tunnel-vision while moving; some people would prefer watching the character move in 3rd person and then snapping their view to the new position; some people are fine with movement, but the forced turning of the viewpoint gets to them, so if there was a way to have the same movement but without artificial rotation (this would be my preference personally), that might be easier to handle.

Overall, I like what you're doing.  It definitely has a strong Time Crysis feel without just being a port.

Hi JoeMan thank you for the comments it is very appreciated. You raised some great points, please allow me to address them.

Gun Angle - Its seems ok to us in game but we will certainly look into this.

Crouching - In our current version there are both methods of crouching/reloading, by naturally crouching in real life it will also reload and stop damage, or you can select the button to crouch.

Comfort - In our current build there are 3 options, natural locomotion as in demo, tunnel vision is implemented and lastly auto teleport when it will auto teleport you to the next spot. Hopefully accounting for all players of all types.

Thanks for raising these points and in the next demo hopefully they are all addressed.

Zombie mode also in progress similar to house of the dead, this is another mode included in the final game so no need to purchase 2 games. Will update soon with Pictures.

With some effort, you can also get pretty close to the originals at home.  :)
