Can't stop auto update

so every time there's a oculus software update, it will automatically download in the background.
This behavior is a big problem for me, because I do not have a fast internet connection.
It is causing me severe lag when playing online games.
The worst part is I have no idea when there is going to be an update, I just find out by suffering lags.
If I close the updater, it will just reopen again, there's no way to reschedule and it even ignores the bandwidth limit I set in settings.
This is really frustrating for me, please tell me what can I do??

The update stops downloading when you're gaming, so it should not limit your online gaming experiences.

You can't stop the update, Oculus forces all users to install the latest update. You can delay the update though by either starting to patch a game, deactivate your internet connection or hurry to start a game when Oculus Home or the Oculus desktop app is launched.
