1.7.1 breaking steam vr

i recently installed the firmware update V 1.7.1 and i appears that the steam vr does not know what i am using

    He was talking about the headset firmware not the version of the Oculus application.

    I wasn't aware it's possible to separate the two.

    Firmware versions are available thus:


    Same for the Touch Controllers.

    I had the same problem. Go into Oculus settings under "general" and turn on "Unknown sources". Then once you've done that restart both Steam and Oculus applications and it should work.

    No that's not the issue 
    I already had that on. 
    Oculus was fine with steam but steam couldn't detect my vr headset.
    But it has been fixed

    I mean...I don't think you can get a newer firmware without getting a newer Oculus Home. People don't typically state their firmware version, they state their software version. The firmware comes with it.
