Let us know what laptop you have @perca05 , someone here may be using the same laptop or at least tested it.
Assuming the laptop is ok, weigh up all the benefits of both headsets. I have both and use them very differently.
The Quest is great for any games that are focused towards 360 and movement (dependant on your room space. It's also much better than the S for media viewing in my opinion. So apps like Netflix, Skybox and the built-in Gallery app really shine. It's also much easier and more fun for sharing with friends and family. Being untethered is really a lot of fun!
The Rift-S is focused towards forward facing PC gaming and simulations. Also apps that aren't likely ever to be released on the Quest such as Medium. And yes, the power of the PC allows for visually more complex graphics but I'd say the benefit is more that the games can be a little more involving with the availability of Fallout 4 and Skyrim for example as well as racing, flight and space sims.
I have both headsets and they both get used but in very different ways. My Rift-S gets much more use but this weekend for example I'm having a BBQ with friends and family so we'll have some fun with the Quest.
