lets do some math to figure out the likely candidate

the oculus gear vr <= oculus go <= oculus quest <= rift s = 3 or 4 types of the same machine, rift s is a fancy oculus go.
oculus rift >= oculus rift s = 2 types of the same machine

so i vote oculus rift gets a new version like oculus quest was to oculus go, adjustable ipd, better lenses, larger fov, less sde

Really like your postulating @hoppingbunny123 - there had been rumors of an internal debate to create a Quest that acted like a Rift-S - with a interchangeable lead that connected with a PC (slave) and also charged the unit. I suppose you could go the other way and have a Rift-S with a interchangeable cable?

The only flaw with this thinking is the Lenovo component. Any of this would have to roll them into the development, and we know they are less than happy with VR in general. As with the Chinese manufacturers of the Oculus Go (Xiaomi) pulling out of future support [Link], Lenovo have been cool on discussing their future plans. But Oculus could take back control, (or this could be another speculation on the bingo card!)

    https://venturebeat.com/2019/08/05/xiaomi-reportedly-disbands-mi-vr-team-but-facebook-is-still-backing-oculus-go/

I still prefer the Quest/Rift-S hybrid - that can address the concerns over the performance limitations, and be a proper future-proofed design - say with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.

But my biggest bet is Facebook announcing their metaverse, accessible from any VR headset, and with Libra as global currency inside.

Sadly @Neokin - I think the US federal government have push a stake into Libra!

    Here's my picks:

3 - No mention of the GearVR made on stage [5,000 points]

4 - Oculus reveals multi-player game for Quest [5,000 Points]

5 - Oculus presents demonstration of new Half-Dome prototype [10,000 Points]

I hope we finally get a release date for Stormland and Asgard's Wrath because it feels like we've been waiting forever. Oh and also Lone Echo 2.

And yeah would be amazing if they released details that they were working on Rift CV2 that beats Valve Index in every way.

    That was easy:

3 - No mention of the GearVR made on stage [5,000 points]
4 - Oculus reveals multi-player game for Quest [5,000 Points]
7 - Oculus reveals new partnership with AAA games studio [5,000 Points]

Where do I pick up my price?  :D

Argh - Neokin read my post, jumped in his time machine and copied my answers  :# Isn't that against the rules??

I would say there will be no mention or focus on a new or updated Rift headset, it will all be about mobile/stand alone and software.

They might say a few words about their new Lenovo hmd, but I too think the main focus will be Quest.

I hope we get some idea of what they are going to talk about before it starts. Because if all they are going to talk about is Oculus Quest then I'll give it a miss.

I agree this would be nice @RedRizla - but for the past Oculus Connects they have kept the core reveals close to their chest, while you can go off and look at the side presentation topics on the feed. It would be a "Disney" level mistake if they focused wholly on Quest, I think we all can agree on that - and would lend credence to the realisation that high-end PC VR is not in their future. Lets hope this is not the case.

Was at a UK consumer game trade event last night and one of the attendees suggested we add two additional topics:

13 - Oculus reveals an updated version of Oculus Quest [5,000 Points]

14 - Oculus reveals new agreement with retail store [5,000 Points]

Anyone not agree with adding these?

Sorry, which topic stated that Carmack was not going to attend - I missed that?

And still it would not be true gen 2, right? ;)

Humans don't need more than 220 degrees fov, probably a waste to do 300 degrees. Some pilots may be be able to subconsciously detect little more than 200 fps, so more than 240 Hz are probably a complete waste. 20K res could work though - and of course getting it all to run on GTX 1050, lol.

I wonder how many will be able to detect the difference between 144fps in 144Hz and 240fps in 240Hz...
