Rather than just complain (= favourite sport here, lol!) try contacting Oculus Support and see if they can help. Short of multiple connector disconnect/connect cycles, kinking and twisting the cable, running over it with your gaming chair, or your dog chewing it, this cable should last a very long time imho.
I had my headset replaced under warranty a few months ago (usual right headphone/ribbon problem). As instructed I just sent back the headset and headphones. I got back a nice refurbished one back (looks brand new) plus a cable. Pretty lucky because now at least I have a spare.
