Custom Oculus Home: Light direction of objects inverted?

I am experimenting with the option to use the oculus home materials for walls etc. via material tag, and it works, but the light direction is always inverted. so when i have a floor mesh  it appears black on the side i am standing on, but when i look on the other side it looks like it should be on upside of it. i had that problem with custom objects before and "fixed it" by deleting its normals, but since that isnt an option and i want to do things properly, how do i go about that?   (i also tried flipping normals in blender but that just resulted in inverted faces in oculus home)
