HOW DARE YOU VALVE - Greta Thunberg Edition

I posted this well-plagiarised version of the famous Greta Thunberg speech relevant to the 2D vs VR wars of the late 10s. I hope this is remembered in future years.

BTW this is satire if you didn't get it.

My message is that we'll be watching you. This is all wrong. I shouldn't be up here. I should be back in games on the other side of the monitor. Yet you all come to us gamers for hope. How dare you!

You have stolen my dreams and my desires with your empty words. And yet I'm one of the lucky ones. Gamers are suffering. Gamers are crying. Entire systems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass boycotting, and all you can talk about is VR and fairy tales of eternal VR hardware growth. How dare you!

For more than 25 years, the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you're doing it right, when the solutions needed are easily in sight.

You say you hear us and that you understand the urgency. But no matter how sad and angry I am, I do not want to believe that. Because if you really understood the situation and still kept on failing to act, then you would be evil. And that I refuse to believe.

The popular idea of getting more people into VR in 10 years only gives us a small chance of success, and the risk of setting off irreversible chain reactions beyond human control.

A higher percent may be acceptable to you. But those numbers do not include tipping points, feedback , additional heat hidden by toxic gamers or the aspects of equity and justice. They also rely on my generation providing hundreds of billions of cash into your Steam Platform with current technologies.

So a small increase in VR users is simply not acceptable to us -- we who have to live with the consequences.

To have a chance of Half Life Alyx reaching a wider audience the best odds given by the [Intergovernmental Panel on gaming] -- the world had 10 gazillion steam users yet VR is not even 1% of that figure.

How dare you pretend that this can be solved with just "One exclusive VR game" and the Valve Index. With today's levels, that budget will be entirely wasted within less than eight weeks.

There will not be any solutions or plans presented in line with these figures here today, because these numbers are too uncomfortable. And you are still not mature enough to tell it like it is.

You are failing us. But the gaming community is starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say: We will never forgive you.

We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not.

Thank you.

System Specs: RTX 2080 ti , i9 9900K CPU, 16 GB DDR 4 RAM, Win 10 64 Bit OS.

I consider Valve the new VR Knights Templar against the unenlightened 2d horde  B)

Image result for temple knights attack horse
Intel i7 7700K (4.5 GHz); MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Gaming X (oc 2100 MHz gpu boost, 11 GHz mem speed); 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 MHz; MSI Z270I Gaming Pro Carbon AC (VR-Ready) mainboard; Samsung 960 Evo M.2 SSD + Toshiba P300 HD; Windows 10 OS; Valve Index and Oculus Rift CV1 - the latter nearly always using super sampling 2.0.
