After Oculus App Install, MIC no longer works for anything on Windows.

alpinefalconalpinefalcon Posts: 7

After Oculus App installed my MIC no longer works on a web site I use to talk to clients.

I was able to find "Select Playback Device", to fix the audio. Which was also not working.

Cannot figure out how to reset MIC for web meetings.

The only way I could figure out is to uninstall Oculus App.

I looked in SETTINGS and DEVICES and the ICON in the tray.

Not seeing any way to change back to the laptop MIC as a default.

Any ideas on this?

seen this on a sub-reddit post it might help

    1. On your PC, press Windows Key + R to open your Run dialogue box.
    2. Type mmsys.cpl then hit OK.
    3. Scroll through the Sound menu to find "Oculus Virtual Audio Device."
    4. Right-click "Oculus Virtual Audio Device" and select Properties.
    5. In the "General" tab, rename the device to "Headphones." Click OK.
    6. In the "Recording" tab, find the Microphone icon that lists the "Oculus Virtual Audio Device."
    7. Right-click the icon and click Properties.
    8. Under the "General" tab, rename the device to "Headset Microphone." Click OK.
    9. Within your general Windows options, set the Oculus headphones and microphone as your "Default" audio devices.
    10. Reboot your PC.

Finally found it after many days. It was not OS MIC settings or Oculus MIC settings, but in Chrome MIC settings.

Had to dig rather deep, but Chrome had the Rift MIC set as default and computer mic disabled.

The only way I had found previously to fix that was to uninstall Oculus App.
