After my first unity Demo GoT : Sky Cell turned out OK I decided to build something a bit more ambitious – GoT : The Wall! I know there is already an official Rift activation of the Wall that tours around with HBO, but it seems unlikely that it will be released. So I made my own!

    I've just and sadly finish to try your demo!!

    First of all,The first pics of the name of the game is still there for too much times. I've waited something like 30 seconds. I think that will be better less time.

    However the atmosphere was really cool and i couldn't wait to explore,but after 5 seconds when i was trying to go downstairs,the game was crashed.

    I've tried another times and i've got the same crash.

    Everytimes you try to turn left and go downstairs the game crashed so i can't say anything else about this experience.

    But it's seems really cool!

    Worked perfectly for me, no crashes, think its pretty good, could do with some snow particles and I really wanted to use the lift to go to the top of the wall but yeah does give you that feeling of being there, maybe throw in some white walkers :D

    Got to the top of the wall. Really well done, bobjwatts! I was fascinated at how the whole process of ascending the wall built up my vertigo so that once I was standing in that trench at the top, I really felt a great sense of height and was a bit fearful of peering down the wall at the ends of the trench. If this were a normal monitor game, I'd jump out to see what's down there, but I didn't even do that. :D
  • This crasched for me to when turning left in the beginning. Looks nice the little I saw of it.

    Game crashed for me first time then ran exe as admin and it worked without crash. Looks great pity you cant use the elevator to climb that would be amazing or if you can i cant seem to make it happen.

    I'm confused. Can you or can't you get to the top of the wall? Drash said he did, but I can't ride the elevator and others are saying the same.

    You can actually walk right up to the lift and hit the F key to open/close doors.

    Just realized that the info about the F key isn't even in the first post, it's only mentioned in the reddit thread.

    Very nice demo. Sound effects also done very well, the crispy snow under my feet is really cool (hehe, pun not intended). The demo crashed on my machine as well (Win8.1 64bits) but from the debug logs I figured out it was in fact my Symantec Antivirus (v12) that was causing it. Temporarily disabled it and the demo runs fine. So for all others having trouble: try to disable your antivirus/antimalware and run the demo again. Liftdoors can be operated with the F key (thanks Drash) and yep, I jumped all the way down. Saw my whole virtual life flash before my very eyes :D

    Keep it up bobjwatts, like to see more of your Unity projects.

    Ah, thanks. I use a controller for VR, so I figured it was bugging up or I was misunderstanding.

    Thanks for the feedback guys! I didn't think anyone had replied because I didn't get an email.

    Not sure about the crashing, I have sped up the game intro and added support for controller. I'll release a new build shortly.

    I don't really know why it crashed everytimes i turn on left.. i hope that's the next building will solve this issue.

    I love game of thrones and this demo as well!

    As a Game of Thrones fan it was a great experience to play this demo. It crashed a few times at the beginning but when I lowered the quality a bit it was fine. I would also recommend you to post your demo on http://www.riftenabled.com/ :D

    cool demo but the wall is to small. in the book there are old huge catapults standing on the wall

    I've tried it another time with administrator right.. and wolat!

    The demo was really really cool,the sense of the altitude was very strong!

    i'm waiting for another Game of Thrones Demo!!

  • Hey, can anyone please tell me how to load this on the Oculus? I just got access to the Oculus at school and really want to check this out.

    Also, if you could please assist with another issue? In the meantime Ive been trying to get this running through to my Android on a standard plastic Cardboard VR setup. I have most of it figured out, but no matter what, even on my laptop, I can't get the head movement to go up and down. Can anyone tell me how to properly map the keys on my keyboard so I can look up and down? No matter what I try it doesn't work.

    Hey @TheStrugglingNerd I made this back in 2014 so it's a very old build, it was only working with the DK1. I am hoping to find the time to do a new release when I get my CV1.

    Not sure about the android setup, I have never done it before, it might be something to do with being an old DK1 build.

    Since I last posted, I actually got a DK1. I've set it up and can easily manoeuvre through the demo as well as another horrible GoT Wall game. However, when I try to use yours, I get nothing. I'm completely unable to move.

    - When in-game, the only function that works is the spacebar, which opens the menu in the middle of the screen.
    - I'm unable or don't know how to select/alter any of the menu items.
    - The screen is full and does not split into sbs.

    Do you have any ideas as to how I can proceed? I've included a screenshot of the game loaded with the menu open, as it appears to reveal some information that I'm assuming may be important to sorting out this issue.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

    Full disclosure: I'm using a retina Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM, a 2.6 Ghz Intel i5 and an Intel Iris 1536 MB integrated GPU.

    Do you know how I'd go about getting this to work?

    Are you using the mac binary? I havent tested it. Or are you running bootcamp?
  • I'm not quite sure about what Mac binary is. As such, I'm inclined to say no. Also, I'm not using bootcamp either. Just running it directly in the Mac OS. Also, interestingly, with or without the oculus, I can't manage to move in the game. It loads and then I'm just stuck in one place. So I'm not sure if this is an issue with the mac iteration of your file or what.
