Ok so I had my Oculus quest for about a year now but out of nowhere it doesn't want to turn on again so I'm assuming the battery is dead. On the other hand the controllers still work perfectly fine and I want to move into pc vr with the rift s so I'm asking if I can just get the headset only and pair the controllers.   to the rift s

    I don't know but...........

The Rift S comes with it's own controllers so why would you want to pair the Quest controllers?

My oculus quest won't turn on so though I'd get a rift s but I wanna know if I can pair my quest controllers the rift s since their alike
So your Quest controllers are not turning on?  Contact Oculus Support to get some help on that.  I believe that the Quest and Rift S controllers are interchangeable so you should be able to pair them with either by going through the controller setup again.

Cause getting the headset only for the rift s is cheap without the controllers so I'm asking if I can connect the
quest controllers to the rift s

So where do you buy a Rift S headset-only?  E-bay?  Maybe make sure it's a Rift S and not the original Rift cv1 because that will not work with Quest or Rift S controllers.  Plus it needs sensors.  Since most cannot get Rift cv1 cables and controllers anymore there are quite a few Rift cv1 headset-only ones for sale.  So, be careful mate.

Oh, now that you've heavily edited the original post, I see what you're talking about.
