Hey there, I found a new and exciting VR game.

The game is called Phasmophobia!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/739630/Phasmophobia/

You and a team of friends/investigators go to peoples houses etc.. and investigate haunted houses...  IN VR, its a absolute blast! but you can play on a monitor too.
I havent had this much fun in a long time!

Communication is a must, so please bring a mic. (communicating with crew and Spirit boxes, ghosts etc.. YES voice recognition for this game!)

Anyway, its $13 on steam... and im actually sore from gripping my controller in tense situations! TOO MUCH FUN!

Warning: If you scare easily please wear a diaper.

I have to share my experience with this game Phasmophobia. My second time playing it, we were investigating a house out in the woods.. I was with some kid, he had to be around 13-16 years old, he played like 3-5 games over me. Anyway.. We were looking for clues finger prints on doors/windows with the UV light and we went out to our mobile home base/truck (Where there is a computer to check out remote cameras we placed etc..  anyway, I go into the house and see him from a distance outside.. (I thought I would mess with him a little) so I shut the door, and hid in the corner, few seconds later.. I had the full body goosebumps because a dark figure came from under the stairs (TRIPPED OUT!). and it got me. I hear a "Oh fuck" faintly in the distance and the kid packed up and drove off...  Unreal experience.

I'm on it - just need first to ... finish ... Affected the Manor  :#

Actually tried Dreadhalls the other day ... again ... Said to myself, "how scary can this old Quest-like game be? - Now I'll complete the game once and for all!". Really enjoyed my 3 minutes in there ... again  :#

I'll probably be able to complete Kobold, only in the company of 3 hot supermodels who constantly cheer me up
Intel i7 7700K (4.5 GHz); MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Gaming X (oc 2100 MHz gpu boost, 11 GHz mem speed); 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 MHz; MSI Z270I Gaming Pro Carbon AC (VR-Ready) mainboard; Samsung 960 Evo M.2 SSD + Toshiba P300 HD; Windows 10 OS; Valve Index and Oculus Rift CV1 - the latter nearly always using super sampling 2.0.

Things are good over here. The family is covid-free (so far). Hope you are all staying safe as well.

Forum life is... uh... business as usual?  :p

I am going through a VR dry spell as well. After I completed SkyrimVR earlier this year, I was dabbling in other titles for awhile, and then just gravitated back towards pancake gaming. The Steam Summer Sale really sealed that deal! I've been addicted to XCom2 for over a month now. And that was after beating other titles, like: Plague's Tale and Blasphemous. I'm near the final campaign of Doom Eternal as well.

This title you posted sounds perfect for the Halloween season! Not to mention that I was once hugely addicted to that show, Ghost Adventures. This game sounds like I get to live that out, which is epic as hell.

I'm hoping my dry spell with VR ends tomorrow with the release of Walking Dead Onslaught. I'm excited to play as actual Walking Dead characters from the official show.

Since this is a coop do the experienced players have patience with new players? Better still, is there a tutorial before you join a server? Looks like a lot of fun, but it would be crap if there's a bunch of hotheads that just expect you to know the ropes.

Might be worth organizing a community weekly session? Seems like something that would be fun to play with regulars.

11 hours in, and I still have so much to learn.

If anyone else has the game, I would like to hear your experiences with it!

Downloading now. Gonna jump in with Evil shortly. Any other takers?

This game has some of the best reviews I've ever read. lmaooo

I don't write reviews typically, but I had to for this game. I screamed so loudly that I woke up my seven month old daughter and my wife threatened to destroy my computer. My heart is beating hard and my pants are dirty. 10/10 will continue playing.

Game 2: Sat in corner ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself
Game 3: Sat in corner ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself
    Highly reccomend

Teammates left me in a room, saw a deformed child running at me and disappear, spent the next five minutes sitting in a corner with a crucifix. Highly recommend.

I got killed by a Mr.Paul Millar, I had one teammate. He was still alive. I watched him pack up his things and drive away with the van. This is why i have trust issues

We've been going strong in this session with a full 4-man team this entire time. This game is great for a group. And scary as hell. Loving this!

Reading this and looking at the videos on YT, I'm really close to pulling the trigger on this, especially since the price point is so good.  Is it easy enough to find online groups to play with?  I know I can play solo but not many friends have the Quest.

So far I have only played with Evil and his buddies. I'll be happy to jump in a session with you. If you like, I can send you a PM with an invite to the Discord, and we can coordinate.

So my favorite part of our 2+ hour gaming session was when we were all in a room using the Ouija board and Spirit Box. We managed to summon the damn ghoul, who spawned right in front of Evil's face. He was armed with... a camera.

And as we all screamed "HOLY SHIT," Evil managed to snap a photo and get a monster selfie. That was hilarious!

Some footage of him showing me his camera once we ran dafuq outside:

Made for a nice scrapbook entry.

    He was a ugly bastard!

I'm still tripping about that high school, we were completely out classed by that ghost. I was shitting my pants in that bathroom.

It's currently #1 in sales on steam at the time of writing this. They truly have something special here.. I cant believe this game is making this much noise, its a unpolished unity game still in Alpha!

We have to go out again man! Had a blast!

Finally got the game, but sadly that's close to the worst blacks I've seen with the Index like ever, lol. Totally gray darkness - really sure this game was made for 2D or oled. Although some textures were nice, it wasn't really anything that impressed me - it probably would have been more with the CV1, but the game seems not to support native Oculus drivers for now. Thus stuck with Index in SteamVR.
Then there must be awesome finger tracking - but no, couldn't close any of my fingers - at all - just got one stiff floating hand.
Performance was nice, could use res 200%, and even using highest graphics setting jaggies were very pronounced. I guess you play this game for the social aspects, not for the graphics and finger tracking - unfortunately I care more for the graphics - and the finger tracking ;)

Maybe I'm having a bad day - but after 12 min I stopped the game and refunded. My backlog is too big, when trying new stuff I really need to be impressed a lot and extremely quickly, and that didn't happen. I might give it a try later - Steam gives me 120 minutes, still got 108 left, lol.

Back to Wilson and his heart! o:)

RuneSR2 - Not sure why you're so critical of the graphics man, I dont see them as too bad... did you play solo or with a group?

Wow, that sucks, Evil! Sorry to hear.

I love this game, but it's definitely better with a group of friends. Let me know when you're ready for round 2.

And Rune, no excuses. Get back in there, soldier!

I think its a generation thing, my Son who just turned 16 is playing games that are fun and doesn't seem to care how they look. Currently playing Fall Guy, this game, the one where you have to guess the murderer and my daughter (his twin) is still playing Minecraft.

You can see why they went full steam into the Quest 2, graphics don't seem as important to them as much as game play. I guess its a generation brought up on mobile phones which has lowered their expectations.

I think even Onslaught looks much better :)

Btw, I would not be surprised if the game looks great using CV1, but using lcd/Index it looked even worse than Affected the Manor.

Tried turning Index brightness down to 20% and that actually looked ... black - unfortunately it also made it hard to see anything, lol.

Devs promised native Rift support, I'll try the game again when that happens  o:)

I played solo - wasn't very impressed, the game felt like an early build that needed much more polish. Needs proper finger tracking too ;) It felt like a 2D game with some mods to make it work in VR.
