Alone At Sea.
Float on a raft and experience the solitude and isolation of an open ocean.
Explore the raft from the famous Kon Tiki expedition.
Climb the ladder into the crows nest.
Turn on the radio for appropriate background music.

UPDATE (August 12, 2014):
DK2 version now available for Windows and Mac, SDK 0.4.1.

Notes: there seems to be issues with positional camera location and in-game player height. Pressing "r"
will center camera and may alter player scale depending on where your camera is mounted.

it's absolutely beautiful. give a great impression of what is possible to enhance historic events such as the voyage of the kon tiki back in the 40s.

while standing on the crow's nest I imagined how impactful it would be to change the weather conditions dynamically but even only standing there really, really gives you a powerful impression of the vastness of the sea and how life might have felt on the raft back then.

thanks a lot for that wonderful work,
many greetings from Austria,
Stefan

Very nice and polished demo, Agua! Visually, it's very engaging, and thanks to silentdriver for implying that one can actually go up the ladder. 🙂

One minor thing: I thought it was a little bit quiet (before I discovered the radio). Since the raft is bobbing in a water a bit, I figured I'd hear a little bit of water clapping against the raft a bit. I imagine it might be hard to pull off in this case without binaural audio, though.

Thank you for sharing this!

Thanks silentdriver. Different weather and times of day do lend a really different feel. I thought about doing a night scene originally. Maybe in another edition.

Thanks drash. Glad you enjoyed it. I did include some ambient background noise like sloshing water and creaking ropes. It's audible for me when I play tested. I'm curious why it wasn't there for your play through. I'll have to look into it.

This was great.

A good one to show people who are new to the rift

Great work 🙂

Thanks for sharing your demo, I'm looking forward to experiencing the vast open sea.

If that's an in-game screenshot it looks very pretty.

As I already mentioned, I totally love your demo. Are you planning to give the ropes and woods a little bit movement? The flag already gives a bit of a wind Illusion, but the boat is static. Or is it possible to make the shadow move or is the light prebaked?

Great work so far!
