In my opinion, there is a noticeable lack of demos suited for the first time Rift experience. A person's first time in the Rift is a pretty powerful thing, and I did not like to see it wasted. Dumping a user into a room or environment without any story or build-up seems counter-intuitive to the immersion factor that the Rift allows us. I wanted to tell a story, slowly introduce the user to the Rift, and warm our way up to the more "fun" experiences. The story aspect also lets the user connect on an emotional level with the experience. First impressions are important, even more so with the social stigma virtual reality gained from premature attempts at its creation.

Just some information if anyone cares... I am currently working on a massive revamp of this project in the Unreal Engine. Hopefully next month I can wrap it up and release it.
Awesome. Your intro is always the first thing I show folks. Its a perfect way to ease into VR. The mildly stimulating and simple tests really help acclimate new users. Very much looking forward to rev. 2!
Fantastic! Any chance for a quick DK2 update to the old version though? Not having tried the Rift yet, it would be awesome to use this as, you know, an actual introduction. Regardless, looking forward to the UE4 version!
as you might already know: I'm also frantically looking forward to your revamped 2.0 version 😉 can't wait to get my hands onto the custom subtitles idea. as I've said before: it's (also here) your demo I let people first experience when getting in touch with VR. the results so far: open mouths, endless grins - and those - who were moved most by the tech and your demo - even had some wet eyes while your experience 😉 would be all too good to pimp its accessibility it up with german subtitles 😉
I hope you got your DK2 already, I'm really looking forward to a DK2 compatible version of this. Even after using the DK1 for almost a year I just enjoyed sitting around and watching. This will be my #1 demo to show first time rifters.
I just finished the main audio track which includes the music and narration. I closed my eyes, played the audio, and visualized going through the finished demo. Even with just the audio, it got me really excited. I will be using all properly licensed music this time, so hopefully a few video clips can be considered fair use, so that I can host this on Oculus Share.
I'm still on target for a release just before Oculus Connect on the 18th of this month. Now time to finish those new scenes...
