Well, another day without fresh information or news. I've PMed Cyber but he has obviously either no time or nothing to share. It's been a while since the previous batch. Hopefully the silence isn't an indication that there is no known date for the next shipment to the DC. I hope that it will be another 500 units and soon.

    we can only hope.
If good ole Cybereality post some info either way it sure would help to ease the tension a little.

is it me or is the air in here thick and sweaty with eager customers ready to mug anyone that looks like they are carrying a box.

I think the quote function might not have worked properly there. It was Venturai that said that.

I'm June 14 and the June 11 cutoff of the last batch was all the more disheartening because of it. My hopes were sky-high that I would get through. Now I strongly suspect I will get in on the next batch and the silence on the shipping date is deafening. Come on Occers, I have plans!

  • Ok cyber you have had your fun.... Hahaha look at the silly Aussies with no idea what's going on....what a funny fun time they are having lololololol. But seriously could we get an update this week as we have heard nothing since the last batch 2 weeks ago!

I was the only June 11th that I have seen and my status never moved from READY, I missed out so last known rift to ship was June 10 in reality... that was disheartening because my status changed and I actually thought I was going to get it... that was 2 weeks ago. It's like telling a kid tomorrow is christmas and then getting a note from Santa that says I will bring you something another day... but I don't know when.

Yeah, the positive side is I know I should receive in the next shipment. Fingers crossed next should knock out atleast July as well... we are well out of the heavy ordering period. I'm guessing we are only talking hundreds left to ship now not thousands.

Don't feel too bad about it, it wouldn't necessarily have been the best thing if you had moved forward. I got my processing and shipping emails in the last batch. Now however?

My rift got from Australia to NZ within a day of being in Sydney. Now it's in Auckland, which is where I live anyway. And from there it's taking at least a full week via express post to make a journey that at worst will be 20km. I could literally pick it up from any postage depot in Auckland, and I've told Oculus this via my support ticket.

I'm supposed to be paying customs on this thing I think, but until it actually tells me that it's being held by customs, I'm unable to get a consignment number and pay to free it. I'm going to be amazed if I have a harder time getting the actual Rift to work than I am getting receiving a parcel from Australia.

    Hey Vercci,
I'm in NZ too and like you my DK2 has been sitting in Auckland since the 17th. To get more details you can use your AusPost tracking number in the NZ Post website (https://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/tracking ), they have now taken over the delivery of your package so all updates are now in their system. I'm guessing that your status will be "Held for Clearance". I got a letter yesterday from NZ Post saying that they were missing an Invoice that is required before customs will release the package. If I find any magical way to extract our DK2's I'll post it up here.
    Best of luck,
    Josh..

One upside of your messages is that it is moving through Australia quickly so great for us Aussies.
Thou not so great for New Zealand Rifters, hard to believe that this is still happening makes you wonder what this paperwork is that they are missing.

what about poor old whalan84 status changing and nothing happening, dude what did you do in a previous life.

    Sorry to say it but
I am worried now no info for a long time and stuff ups with the last lot to boot im thinking now massive holdup while they try to correct problems / wait for enough orders to warrant sending a shipment.

@Cybereality do you reckon its possible you could pull ya finger out mate

Edit:- then i read here claims of fraud and such with NZ customs viewtopic.php?f=26&t=14635

This does not look good at all shakes head in disbelief.

Yeah, checked it there and it's held for clearance also. Went around a few NZ post and customs numbers and no luck. International NZ Post mail center goes to some squeaky guy's voice and then to a message system immediately after saying I don't have a Customs reference number.

So I just got word that a pretty large batch will be going out to the Oceanic region shortly.

If you are in that batch, you may be receiving your "processing email" as soon as later today (AU time).

Thanks for your patience guys (and gals)!

Thanks for the update Cyber, I really appreciate! So it looks like we're getting a batch sent to the DC roughly every two weeks, am I right?
Being a 6th of July order, I'm not sure I'll be in that batch, so I'll try not to get too excited yet, but it's good to know that things are moving!
  • Great to hear another batch will be on its way here to Australia and the rest of Oceania soon. Thanks for the update Cyber.

I'm a July 10th order - not far behind you ptisinge. If you make it through, can you pull me through too? :)

Well, if that batch can move through a month of orders we'll be both happy soon. Fingers crossed.

I'm hearing you buddy, lets hope so.
but he did say it was for the Oceania region which does cover a few countries.
But I will keep checking my emails just on the off chance I am in this batch but I am not going to hold my breath or get my hopes up like the last lot.

How about we start a betting pool with this batch on how far it gets us through?
At least it will give us something to do while we wait.

Great news Cyber, thanks for the update! So excited to get started on my VR experiments! I'm also looking forward to spending more time looking at other parts of the forum, instead of trudging in here hoping for news every day (who am I kidding several times a day).

I had a question though, who would we feed back to regarding the shipping and fulfillment experience? Is that best done via yourself or emailed? Someone needs to have a look at how this was done.

Given the delays incurred by Aussies, NZers and others, batch shipping seems of just really questionable utility on a customer service level, given the state of international shipping and postage. One example among many, an order for three 3.5" hard drives shipped from NY state in May cost ~$8 USD less for shipping than Oculus charged us, and arrived in less than a fortnight to my doorstep in a remote part of Australia via UPS Worldwide Expedited shipping.

My friend here got his Rift delivered yesterday (he was in the last batch, parcel delivery takes a bit longer out here) and the package was labelled as 2.28kg. The hard drives would have been of greater weight than the Rift, and not that far off the carton volume. The amount of shipping we were charged should have easily covered direct shipping in order of pre-order placement date and time, as the stock became available. This is logical, fair and equitable.

It would be ok if shipping by batch had delivered a much lower cost, but instead for zero cost advantage we've had a delayed delivery time in comparison to other parts of the world. How is waiting for stock to fill a batch and then dividing them across regions according to a percentage of pre-orders superior to direct shipping? I can't see how the current outcome is better than one with direct shipping, for all your customers.

It may be considered that individual unit shipping from China could make resolving shipping issues very problematic compared to breaking up the batch in the local country and dealing with issues from there. With the Poppy Kickstarter there were all sorts of difficult to resolve issues with individual items not turning up (some may have been pilfered en route) and then insurers demanding something like 3 months before they would accept that they were not just delayed.
