Milk VR Missing!!!

edited March 2015 in Samsung Gear VR
I used my goggles earlier in the day and all was fine. Later in the day I put them on and I noticed one of the items was blank on the home screen. I later found out it was Milk VR and I couldn't find it in the Library or the store. When I look in the oculus app on the phone it is there and appears fine. There is nothing that says uninstall or reinstall that I can find. Does anyone know how to fix this problem ?

Did you try finding it in settings>application manager>downloaded ? Perhaps try "Force Stop" ing the app there. If that doesnt work then maybe try deleting it if you see it and then returning to the Oculus Store application to re-download and install. Or maybe just reboot the Note 4?

I'm having the exact same experience with Milk VR missing. I'm actually seeing a number of blank tiles in the library, but Milk was obvious since it was the last App I used and would be the first one displayed on Oculus Home.

    How many others?
  • Exact same issue here, not sure why it's missing but it is just gone.

I'm running with that it has to do with the updates. I'm showing Version 1.25 with a date of 1/30/2015. Something disabled Milk VR. Just when I was looking to go exactly in to that tonight after settling in from work. I'm just sitting tight since I'm sure this is hitting everyone and reaction should be swift to get it resolved.

I tried everything you said Boffin and still have the problem. I don't believe the problem is with the app in the phone, not sure but I think it was from the update we received the other day. Thanks for the try but I think it's going to take another update to fix.
  • MilkVR is missing when you have the headset on, but, you can still launch it from the oculus app before putting the headset on.

Are only people outside of the US having problems finding Milk VR or also people from the US?

I'm at work and can't check, i can't find Milk VR in the Store on my phone anymore but it's still listed in my library with an update notice. But i'm not gonna install the update if it's the reason for the problems. Hopefully Milk Vr wasn't disabled for people ouside of the US even tho they already had it installed.
  • I'm in the US and it is gone for me. I was trying to get the Evolution of Verse going when it disappeared on me late last night...thought it was something I did. Only other thing I did was download the Rocket game during the process. I didn't update anything else.

I got my GearVR just today (GERMANY), and for me, also the Milk VR App is missing. I also don't have it in the oculus app.

I went to the Oculus app on the phone (not in VR mode), and updated the MilkVR app from v1.22 to v1.25.

This caused the same problems I had with Anshar Wars and Ikarus earlier this week: failing to install the update. At this point the app was no longer visible in the VR.

But after I uninstalled MilkVR v1.22 through the Phone Settings->App manager, I could reinstall v1.25, and it works now.

The only stupid thing was that I forgot to backup the MilkVR folder, so all my downloaded videos are gone now as well :-(

Luckily I do have a backup now of both v1.22 and v1.25 apks in case it disappears again.

This is outside of the US.

You shouldn't be able to launch anything from the Oculus app before putting the headset on. I assume you are rooted.

    MIssing for me too.
When you install it in the Oculus Library, without the headset on, it just keeps looping from 'Downloading...' to 'Install', there's some problem with 1.25
All the other updates worked fine, Oculus apps and Darknet.

I had the same problem. Uninstall it from the android uninstall (under settings/applications/application manager). after that you can install it form the oculus library before you put the headset on. Launch it from there, then put the headset on when it tells you to and it works.

How are any of you doing this? All I get is "Insert Device - To open this application, insert your device into your Gear VR."

Ok, I just tried it by hitting Start within the App before putting the device in the Gear and it did go directly to Milk VR. However, once you exit Milk VR the issue is the same: it is nowhere to be found in Oculus Home, Library, or Store. So this doesn't solve the issue, but it at least lets you use it until there is an update to solve it.

Yes, you have to start it independently.
It's as if they're purposefully wanting to have MilkVR operate outside the main Oculus experience? Curious.

So it's not fixed for anyone and that's an important note to make, we just have a temporary work-around for when you want to use it until it's fixed.

I'm going to guess that there needs to be either an additional Milk VR update or an update to Oculus to get it back in there. I doubt they are setting it to operate outside of Oculus.

As I said before and is stated here, it's not a fix starting through the phone. It will access milk VR but if you installed any downloaded material, you will not be able to access it. I checked and it is still in the VoltVR folder and the folder is in the root files

    1. I'm in the US.
    2. I have been using MilkVR until January 27.
    3. MilkVR is still installed on my device, but doesn't show up in the store or library when I have the device in the headset.
    4. I cannot start MilkVR when the device is not in the headset.
    5. I tried uninstall/install, to no avail.

I certainly hope Samsung or Oculus are aware of the issue and are in the midst of fixing it as we speak. This is obviously an issue that affects all of us.

Sorry about this. We are aware there is an issue, and are currently investigating.

If you uninstall the app you may lose the downloaded content, so please hold off doing anything for now.

    Thanks.

Thank GOD for this thread. I was convinced that I had somehow been blacklisted from Milk VR on account of having downloaded some porn!

Ditto from me. I saw your post earlier and thought it was an isolated incident until I got home and went in to the Gear. It sped up the realization that there was a system wide issue for all of us.

One other thing I know for sure, MilkVR went out before I made a VoltVR folder.
  • Damn it. Expidited the 1 day shipment so I could enjoy the gear vr for the weekend and milk vr goes out... I looked at as much as I could before the phone overheated and now it's time for bed. Excellent experience during that time and my 5 and 3 year Olds got to look at the Iceland experience. Come on milk get back online so I can check it out.
  • Lol dont worry, your not missing much.
