BruceLiBruceLi Posts: 115
edited November 2015 in Samsung Gear VR
I don't know why but for some reason my store stopped working since yesterday. I purchased bable rising 2 days ago and all was fine and then i tried to access the store, but all i see is the loading circle. The circle keeps going but the store never comes up. Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a cure for the problem?

When you say "the store" are you talking about the 2D app or the 3D app? Can you try both and report back?

I can see everything on my phone. When I go into the headset, I can access featured, games, apps, experience and the library . When I hit the store tile or click on the store name at the bottom, it's starts to dl but keeps the circle going around. But no store pops up. I guess I can still purchase tandem dl through the phone but can't see store through the goggles.
Sorry I don't understand what you mean by 2D or 3D.

He means the 2D store as viewing on your phone or 3D as viewing through the VR headset.

Thank you, that's what I thought but wasn't sure.

Same thing happens to me about 50% of the time, when I go to the store in the headset I just get the spinning circle a quick reboot fixes it,but who wants to do that all the time.

I tried that many times, even turned phone totally off for a bit. Still the store does not show up in 3D (goggles on). Cybereality asked for that information, I'm not sure if he was able to find anything out. It doesn't seem to affect anything else. Just a pita to have to use library to change apps. It would be great to have like a full thumbnails page, with maybe a way to set them up the way you want. Like alphabetically, numerically or just anyway you want.

I tried it on the test phone, and I was not able to replicate.

Can you tell me what carrier you are on, and whether you are using Android 4 or 5?

    Hi,
I must revive this thread because I have the same exact issues.
    My info:

USA, AT&T Note 4 (Android 5.1.1) -- Using only wifi.
    First edition Gear VR.

I was in Puerto Rico last time it worked well.
I have been traveling to South Korea, Thailand, and Italy (currently staying here), and have since been on airplane mode as I do not have an international plan with AT&T. During these travels I noticed I could not access the store.
My current ISP is Tre: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hutchison_3G#Italy
Is there some ISP-related issue with the store?

For what it's worth, I accidentally deleted the contents of my GearVR memory stick long ago, so I redownloaded someone else's backup. I can't remember if the problem started then, however I did get to recover my content...
I have reinstalled Oculus & Oculus Home apps, still the problem persists.

Everything is exactly as described by OP; I can use the GearVR just fine, but the VR store never loads. The non-VR store does launch just fine. Nevertheless, I cannot find Netflix on the non-VR store.

Has anyone found any leads on this?

    EDIT:
    I found this thread...
    https://forums.oculus.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=24069&start=20
It's allegedly solved. However, if I reinstalled, I should have the fix?
I'm running Oculus & Oculus Home apps, both on version 0.5.29.

    Try uninstalling these Oculus apps:

I tried reinstalling again, this time, following all the steps outlined in the guide.
I even rebooted the phone after uninstalling everything.
    After rebooting, I reinstalled.
Still have the problem. Is there something I can provide to investigate? Maybe a log?
I can logcat, but would not know what flags to filter by...

I can give you any information you need from my device as well.
Also, I would like to correct... I actually have Android 5.0.1 (not 5.1.1 as stated in my previous post)

    EDIT:
FWIW, some of the services were showing "Uninstall Updates" where the "Uninstall" button is.
Afterwards, it was simply a greyed out "Disable". Since there's nothing else I could do, I would assume that's what I'm expected to do.

Can you try this and then upload the text file.
    adb logcat -d > log.txt

    Thanks.

I have included the full log. I did notice some alarming things on the Unity-app log for Oculus Home, so I am adding a Unity-filtered version for easy reading.

What seems like the culprit is:
E/Unity (20076): Unable to find OVRPlugin
W/Unity (20076): Failed to load profile.

Seeing the same thing on my Note 4. S6 also didn't have the Store showing up but after a device restart it was fine. On the Note 4, I confirmed I have the latest SystemActivities, restarted the device, uninstalled and reinstalled Oculus/OculusHome/OculusSystemActivities, still no Store.

Worth noting that I'm on an old device build: N910FXXU1BOA3. SM-N910F, Android 5.0.1.

    Thanks and hope that helps!

Same problem here using my Verizon 5.0.1 Note 4 and Innovator Edition Gear VR. No access to the store via the head set since yesterday. Haven't had time to attempt any of the fixes yet.

Problem is partially solved for me...
    The store definitely works now!

The original problem I had still persists:
    kilogold wrote:

Following this guide (https://support.oculus.com/hc/en-us/articles/211153777-How-to-watch-Netflix-on-the-Samsung-Gear-VR), I am supposed to expect the Netflix app on the home screen.
What I see is all of the main panels populated, except for one which is blank (which I assume is the Netflix panel).

Since I am unable to take a screenshot, consider the following web image:
    oculus-home-v2-7.jpg

The bottom left panel (ORBX Media Player) is the one that is blank for me.
I scanned all across the vr store, and found no Netflix app.

I understand that if I can see the store now, I do have the latest version.
Aside from that, I had already reinstalled all of Oculus/GearVR software:

Can you open NetFlix from the phone app before you dock the headset?

This would assume I have downloaded the app already.
As stated & quoted on my last post:
    kilogold wrote:

Are you referring to the Netflix defacto Android app everyone uses? (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient)
I'm pretty sure that's not how it works...

I tried checking the Oculus store again (both vr & non-vr). I don't see it in the store.
What section should it be under (I searched all of them)?
There is every indication and documentation that I should expect to see it quite obviously displayed on the store.
Maybe a screenshot of where I can find it?
Nevertheless, I can guarantee I don't have Netflix...

FWIW, Netflix just became available in Italy (where I currently am) a few weeks ago.
Not sure if there is some regional store catalog filtering... I saw a post that someone from UK was able to download it just fine.

360 Stories is gone for me as well (it was in my library at one point). Perhaps the developer pulled it from the Store?
  • Hi on my phone the new concept section is displayed in both store and library but when I put on the headset it's no where to be found have I missed an update. Oculus and oculus home are running version 1. I was able to update a number of apps just the other day

I don't see the Concepts stuff in Oculus Home either (the VR version of the store), but if you download it via the 2D Oculus app you can just launch apps from your library in VR.
