Colliders Not Clickable on Samsung Gear VR Unity Demo App

Hi Everyone,

I tried to run the Samsung Gear VR Unity Demo (Exercise) App that Samsung provides, from the link below:

http://www.samsung.com/us/samsungdeveloperconnection/developer-resources/gear-vr/apps-and-games/exercise-4-adding-functionality.html

I used Unity 5 to deploy the app into Samsung Gear VR and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Initially the app always crashed, until I change the "Button_Advance" and the "Button_Decrement" multi materials into a single material.

The problem is the "Button_Advance" and the "Button_Decrement" game objects are not clickable on the Samsung Gear VR. It seems like the Raycast is ignored by the button colliders. The buttons are only clickable on the desktop PC.

I tried to create some UGUI buttons, and they are also clickable on the desktop PC, but not on Samsung Gear VR (I use a PC mouse with OTG cable attached to the Samsung Gear VR to click).

How to make the "Button_Advance" and the "Button_Decrement" game objects clickable on Samsung Gear VR and Samsung Galaxy S6?

Hi, not trying to hi-jack the thread but your post got me wondering if the tutorials/instructions are out of date?
I'm new to the forum and am exploring app development on the gear vr; the setup mentions Gear VR Innovator Edition, can I develop with the new gear vr and samsung S6 edge+ phone or do I need the Innovator Edition and does the innovator edition support the S6 edge+ phone ? Thanks.

    Setup: Windows OS
    Hardware
You will need the following hardware to develop for Gear VR in Unity:
Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition for Note 4 and Samsung GALAXY Note 4
Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition for S6 and Samsung GALAXY S6 or S6 Edge

    Hi @Zubz,

The tutorial problem is the user cannot click the buttons on the app. I only have Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, so I don't know whether we can develop a Unity app for other variants.

I noticed some of Samsung's documentation still references the older (Unity 4.x) Oculus integration implementations.
You'll want to use native support if you're on Unity 5.
I suggest you check here to get started:

Unity has some really good tutorials to get you started too, if you have Unity 5.3 or later:

@kilogold : Thanks for the links. I will try the examples after I install Unity 5.3.
