Buttkicker out of stock what about these?

Ok guys I am looking for the next step to immersion with my DK2. I play elite and Assetto Corsa mostly and would love to have a Buttkicker gamer 2 but it seems like its very hard to come by.

I have found this product
http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-tt25-16-puck-tactile-transducer-mini-base-shaker-16ohm-300-388

I might get more than one. I am going to put it under my wife's lounge chair which has a thick cushion (about 8 inch) this is due to me gaming downstairs so office chair is out lol. I am looking for a kick when changing gear or going over rumble strips. Would also love to feel the force on elite when I fire or apply the thrusters. VR is funny as once you nail one part another area is shown up so its never ending lol.

Any advice would be great or alternatives cheers

I use 4 of these. Two under seat, one at pedals, one at wheel. Does the job nicely.
I'm using simvibe, wire the shakers in series and you can use one stereo amp to power them.
  • Agreed about the Aura's. Best shakers out there IMO. Not as strong as the buttkickers, but they pack a decent punch and as long as you don't overdrive them over their rated wattage (Kill-A-Watt is handy for this), they're far and away the quietest bass shakers you can buy.

Thanks for the info, can I ask how they connect to the PC ? I have a Sony 5.1 surround system that is a amp also. I have a sound card etc. Is sim vibe required ? Will pay for it if it makes it easier to get set up?

What sort of kick do you get from them does it really add to the emersion ?
  • There are several ways to hook up the bass shakers. Too involved for me to get into now, you'll have to do some research.
You do need to have the right amp and especially the ohms. With the Auras almost any amp will work as long as your ohms are right. You can match ohms by wiring in series or parallel if you have to. Plenty of guides online for speaker wiring.

I have never used buttkickers, but the Auras do a good job at a significantly lower price. You can use just about any cheap amp you can find for them.

Simvibe. - It's priceless for race games, or any other games that it supports. Normally hooking up shakers to the sound outputs, you're stuck with all sounds triggering the shakers.
Simvibe will send engine rpm, road vibration, gear change, bumps, among others to whichever shakers you want at whatever volume you want. Keep in mind that if you are going to use simvibe, you will need a second sound card.

Aura shakers are rated at I believe 4 ohms. Most home stereo amps are rated around 8 ohms per channel. So for the left channel you run 2 auras in series to bring them to 8 ohms. Do the same thing for the right channel.

All questions can be answered here.

Got super excited considering you can get an Aura AST-2B-4 and a Dayton SA-70 amp off of amazon for 100 bucks, then I remembered I'm in Canada and for the pair here it's almost $200.  :/

I'm thinking about one of these but with a price tag of £285.00, are they really worth it? Cant find any review online?  :/

I have one and they are fantastic.
I paid about £235 for mine a few months ago (they are now £250 from the same place https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/electronic-drum-kit-amplifier/pearl-thmp-1-throne-thumper) and find it really adds to the immersion, but can shake your seat to bits if not careful or be grounds for divorce if your games/pc room is above the living room.

Im sure the wife wouldn't mind sitting on it for a bit (Am I right, am I right  :D)

But seriously, the website I posted is advertising this as a Buttkicker Gamer 2 and the link you gave its a throne thumper, but its exactly the same product! Very sneaky of the first vender as its £35.00 more just with the Buttkicker title.

Thanks for the link though I'm very tempted!

I wrote the Buttkicker guys twice in the last few months, they are always replying the same thing, in stock in 3 to 4 weeks but it's been maybe 3 months. Then I wrote them again last week asking if the company was still alive, they replied that they are doing everything they can to get the Buttkicker back in stock, but they have a component supply problem.... Ummm... Now where did I heard that before :p
