Latest update has Oculus Home restarting constantly, interfering with other apps and eating battery

What started it was YouTube app pausing video every 5-10 seconds. Which it will do under certain conditions of other heavy app use. After some investigative work noticed Oculus Home app was constantly dropping off the Battery Usage app list and refreshing. It appears it's closing and restarting.

Even on a charger was losing 1% batt every 30 seconds. Had to finally uninstall the entire app package

Maybe I'll try again down the line after more updates but maybe not. Huge waste of my time because of shoddy QA.

I believe you just need to uninstall Oculus Home first, and then Oculus Rooms (in that order) and then re-dock your phone. After you do that, it should download the latest working update. Thanks.

I'll try that now and see what happens.

No change at all. Did exactly as you said. Downloaded the software and I still keep getting "com.oculus.rooms is scanned. No threats detected" and the battery dropping fast.

Oculus Home is Version 2.15.19
Oculus Rooms is version 0.0.2
Oculus is version 2.15.4

but none of these show any use since the last full charge. Kaspersky only shows 1%. But Knox shows 14%!

"com.oculus.rooms is scanned. No threats detected"  still keeps going off. Off to bed now. Hopefully something will have been sorted by tomorrow. Maybe there'll still be a charge in my battery in 6 and a half hours.

OK - I've tried that now.

So far so good. Temperature dropped almost instantly and so far no more Norton scan notifications reappearing. Guess that means it's working again.

npharrison - I don't know if it makes a difference, but I uninstalled Oculus, Oculus Home AND Oculus Rooms before docking again to reinstall it.

Well, once I get enough battery life, I'll try that.

No 😞 I did exactly that, uninstalled both of them and the same message kept popping up after the software had installed. Hopefully one of them will look at the list of software I've just shown and make sure I'm running the right versions. Can't do otherwise as they download automatically.

OMG! I had this exact problem since a day or 2. Then I suddenly realised I had seen an update from Oculus and went to look on the forums. This being one of the top threads. Thanks for the quick solution but I hope Oculus can get their act together. Releasing crap like this is not a nice thing to do to your customers.

S6 user here. Same issue started yesterday afternoon. Battery went mad and the phone was totally hot (not in the right way mind you).

I'll uninstall and re dock when at home.

Thanks for the heads up,

Happened to me on my s7 edge. I too have uninstalled everything Oculus (apps and all) and now my phone is working well again. I hope that Oculus test the next update before they push it next time. I would like to reinstall, though not before this issue has been fixed...

I'm not sure uninstalling fixed it... Battery keeps draining and its still hot... I have restarted but perhaps there is some ongoing process somewhere. I'm afraid I'll have to do a factory reset if this keeps going.
