Here's mine...
I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites.
Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once.
It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver"

For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them.
I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song:

A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark.
I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards

I'm a sad nut and love love love tenacious D lol not sure if it fits into your way of thinking and music Zen but I think it's the bee's
And a huge fan of Gaelic (scottish) music.
Play it at full blast and I love their track "Turantula"
lol @ "bust a massive monster mamajam"
I won a Guitar Hero challenge with their song, The Metal
And of course, my favorite T-D jam of all time...

@Syndroid +1 for Frontline Assembly. I listened to a lot of that during my software coding all-nighters. And Cybernetika is badass. The 8:53 mark is the kinda shit that causes me to make babies

I can keep going but I don't wish to hog the thread. Keep 'em coming.

Great thread...nothing like good tunes while waiting on your touch.
I love the intro to Fish On. Such a uniquely Primus sound.
My tastes vary wildly. When I listen to radios in Spotify or Pandora I typically go for 70's or 80's music. For some reason any Pandora channel I make will eventually settle on Sweet Home Alabama, which I'm sick of, but apparently it matches my taste? The groups that I've liked the longest would be Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel.
But my overall favourite groups based on how often I listen to them are Electric Six, Lemon Demon and Can't Stop Won't Stop.
Lately I've been drifting to electro-swing like Alice Francis and Caravan Palace.
But if I'm going to post one youtube clip here, I'll make it We Got That Booty by The Supermen Lovers.

Keep'em coming guys. I've been AirPlaying these things to my stereo tonight.
Interestingly, this song is about a crazy kid named Dexter. But this was before the show/novel.

This is a song from many years ago by the Sydney group Chakradiva. Very old and very crap computer graphics, but if any one song could be my official theme song to sum up my attitude to life, I would want this to be it. (I'm not there yet, but it's something I aspire to).
"See no point in overtaking
In the race but we're not racing
Seen the finish, it's taking all night
I just like to ride
No need to move aside
What have I got against the other guy?
I just like to drive"
Plus their bouncy rabbit car is awesome! (But could be rather sickening in VR)
Another inspirational song that's always stuck with me and is also car themed: Whoever You Are by Geggy Tah.
I'll finish the car theme with the complete polar opposite of Chakradiva's Drive: the Yellow Line theme and race from the movie Redline. The whole soundtrack is great, but this one just has so much energy!
I wish I had Sweet JP's hair!

I listened to a lot of Death Angel back in the day. Had a few of their albums on cassette! In particular was the Album, "Act III." I listened to that start to finish hundreds of time in my early teens.

But in terms of pieces that I will drop all I'm working on to just enjoy the sonical experience I'll give a few picks:
I am a movie nut so most of my favourites are related to that. From classics like Princes of the Universe:
Or Flash Gordon:
But I can't fill the list with only Queen so a bit of more modernities slip in with Daft Punk sometimes:
Or Vangelis:
And while some people called it monotonous, I loved the sound of Fury Road:
And while Heavy Metal got all the fame I actually prefer the lesser known Nelvana production (yes... the studio behind Carebears):
Outside of movies I love one musical in particular:
And in Anime noone has yet beaten the trio of
Yoko Kanno:
Susumu Hirasawa:
And Joe Hisaishi
Oh... I almost forgot the Maestro himself!
And lastly, if I've been too high brow:
And:
I would have posted the Chris Hadfield Space Oddity but you guys beat me to it. So I'll stop the list here and immidiately I'll kick my self for forgetting someone obvious.
Like:
Queen's Flash Gordon is in my Spotify Elite Dangerous list, but I should add Princes Of The Universe too. Highlander isn't scifi (well, Highlander 2 is, but let's never speak of it again), but the song sounds appropriate for a space game.
Here's a cool one. Journey Of The Sorcerer by The Eagles. If you don't recognise which TV series used this as it's theme then you need to watch better shows.
