@nalex66 - That skeleton is stunning! I dream about being able to do one of those from memory. Loving that elephant too @TrancerSpacey
Thanks, guys! It was an interesting project, and I learned a lot about Medium in the process. Use lots of layers, it makes it so much easier when you can move and resize individual parts of your model without messing up the parts you've finished! That rib cage was a pain in the ass, and I took several tries at it with different methods. Being able to erase it without screwing up the spine was very useful. Also being able to duplicate/flip individual limb joints made it much easier to adjust his pose. I just wish we weren't limited to 20 layers, I had to start merging them to continue with the model.
This wasn't done entirely from memory--I have a plastic skeleton model on my desk that I looked at for reference. I've been drawing skeletons all my life, but shaping shoulder blades and pelvic bones in 3D was a new experience made much easier by having a 3D physical reference to study.
Third one now... I finally found how to change the light! Woho!
I can just imagine this being used for previs... I mean. If I can bang out this in under an hour. I am fairly certain more experienced modelers can do more in less time and get a director into the scene. Snap off a few shots and then the rough sketch can be sent off to the real CG team to build a fully fleshed out scene around it.
Experimenting with snap to surface on the clay brush. Getting a bit more comfy with inflate/deflate now too. The key for me is not going near it until I'm up a couple of subdivisions
I'm no artist so I went for something easy, my first sculpt was a snowman with a tree It's pretty incredible what is possible even with just a few hours of experience!
Damnit, I was hoping there was some method that didn't require me to have artistic skill.
Try this as a general rule of thumb to get started. Paint the general body of the metal object the color you'd like it to be.. lets say for this case dark grey or dark blue. Next paint the sharp edges of the object a light grey color to give the edges a sense of wear and tear and generally you can get a decent looking metal from just this. Add little scratches or patches of imperfections as you see fit in between these two steps and you're golden.

It was glowing more in Medium.
After trying out the tutorials I would count this my 3rd sculpt.
It took me 5 hours to create.
Who ya gonna call ?
