Post a photo. I think that's how the pin is supposed to be?

Question. Is the HDMI on an ASUS GPU or MB?

    No, Gigabyte 990FX Gaming
I have now officially tried everything.
Reinstalled windows and all the drivers.

The only thing left to do is try another GPU or Computer.

I'm confused - what are you plugging this HDMI cable into?

Sometimes using adapters can help, for example a DVI-to-HDMI or DP-to-HDMI adapter.

I know what your problem is. I've seen this before. You have to plug that part (what you showed a picture of) into the hole on the gpu (that it fits. You'll know if it fits because you won't have to force it). The two have to be connected.

The dvi to hdmi is for the television.
It never worked in any other combination that the VR being in the main port.

The screen flashes black and sets the resolution on my 4k monitor to 1920..

It makes the windows chime when it is plugged in but then makes the error chime

I swear it is a GPU issue. Something to do with new update. But not sure how that would change anything already reinstall everything !

Your postings just make no sense at all ? First you say the rift is buggered then the cable then the gpu and now no vr til the end of the year ??? Loads of people try to help, ask you questions and your answers are so vague ? What gives ? And that cpu is a power hungry monster !!! What psu do you have ? Is it powerful enough for all your bits and bobs ?

    I have a 750W

the rift is buggered. I tried it on a NVidia 980ti.

What does it matter all the finer details.
You change nothing in the Operating system, nothing in the driver settings.

It is just a plug and play item.

It matters a lot when people try to help mate. And that's what many people are trying to do. But hey ho, see you at the end of the year if it doesn't matter :)

He has no idea what he's doing and guessing, then posting he found the problem before actually confirming anything.  I took his "now no vr til the end of the year" to mean now he has to save up to buy another one and it will take so long it will be end of year before he can pay for it.
