I've posted mine a few times, but here it is again. It's been perfect for me.

Someone on Reddit posted this today, which looks nice too, and it's pretty cheap, but it would have been better if it were tilted so the lenses face downwards. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Venom-Universal-Headset-Stand-Organiser/dp/B01LXO8JYL/
Don't see it available for the U.S. yet.
Care to share where you got this from I ca't find it anywhere. If you made it, i'm willing to pay a very pretty penny for it.

I have only had my Rift a week now, but I happened to have a soft cloth bag with drawstring on one end to cinch it ( came with a suitcase I have), which ended up being a perfect fit for my Rift. I leave the Rift plugged into the PC, and when done just slip it in the bag and cinch up the drawstring somewhat, keeps it well covered during the day. My PC is in my office in garage ( is climate controlled), but it is a little dusty out here so I like to keep it in that bag to hopefully keep the dust from accumulating on it over time.

Special case here since we have cats which can be a TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS. As you might now, male cats have the habit to "spray" on anything...and nothing is worse than cat pee on electronics. (Take my word there, it's an absolute killer....not to speak of the hygiene aspect here. Cat pee already killed my older Plasma TV and keyboards).

Having pets also means I cannot just keep the one sensor on the table, they would constantly tip it over if not break it. (The second sensor is on a shelf to my right which fortunately isn't in an area where the cats go often)

The other issue is that constantly (aka every day) re-connecting sensors and/or the HDMI is absolutely not recommended. So I needed a storage solution where I can leave the stuff plugged in, yet have easy access.

The original boxes are too big, furthermore they are not "cat proof". I think this is essentially pressed card board.

What I did went to the dollar store and got a tupper-ware container thing with a lid, which is approximately shoe-box sized, a little higher tho. This container box fights PERFECTLY right in front of my computer, which sits to my side on a wall.

Since the lid closes flush and tightly (making it dust and cat proof) I cut a small opening on the side where the wires come out. This means I can put the stuff in while it stays connected to the PC.

The beauty of this container is that it is the perfect size, doesn't just hold the HMD and a sensor but also the Touch controllers. So when I "do VR", I just reach down, open the container, take the sensor out, put in on the desk and I am all-go.

As for cats, again, ALL my cables, Rift, sensors, monitors but also mice, keyboards, USB etc. are protected with Nylon "cable organizers" so they can't chew through the cables.

Seems pretty cat proof to me. Might need an air hole or something, but there is no way the cat is getting out of that box easily while you play with the rift.

That was the idea behind such a big box right ?  Rift comes out... cat goes in ?

There's currently a VR stand in development on kickstarter : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1910388709/vrge-virtual-reality-hardware-charging-dock

It supports Vive, PlayStation VR as well as Oculus and can be desk or wall mounted. Am tempted to throw some money their way to make this happen!

I just put it in the bottom drawer...

Keeps it safe and no chance of sunlight damaging the lenses.

Mine is behind my monitor, in Az in a house with front and back doors open most of the time so the dogs can run in and out of the house.  My rift is covered in dust, even the lenses.  The Oakley style cloth that came with it does just fine to clean the lenses without scratching them for me.  I don't have time to play it right now, but it seems to be impervious to dust and dust mites so no special treatment for this thing, I'm not putting it in the box, covering it with a bag or any of that.  Just clean off the lenses with the cloth when I have time to play it.  I looked at the 3d printed stands, but they'll take hours and hours and hours to print.  I'd just go to the hardware store and spend $8 on a wall hook if it was a concern but it's not.

zork2001 - awesome setup! Mins just sits on top of my PC when not in use. I have a desk with a small shelf which my monitor stands on, all the accessories just go on there.

I made a wire hanger into a mask hanger. it's strong enough to handle the two touch controllers and the gamepad controller, too. I'm considering productifying it. ;-) A perfect accessory for those with limited desk space. it can be placed under the desk if you got space.

I designed a desktop stand for the CV1 headset and touch controllers. It's compact and keeps everything looking neat when not in use. The stand is 3D printed on a Lulzbot Taz.

yeah as someone above said, you really should think twice about hanging them on walls or w/e with the lenses/open side facing up! the amount of dust getting on those lenses will risk far more microscratches than needed (when you inevitably have to clean it). Also it looks JANKY AF ;)

Mine goes back in the case atm, left plugged in and disabled with oculus tray tool. I have the older smaller rift only case which is perfect for me as doesn't take up too much space on the shelf under my PC. Keep the dust (and sun) out, keep the covering from getting tons of dust in the fabric and/or worn looking. I should say this is where it goes when I'm done with it for the day, but as I use it often throughout the day obviously I don't put it back in the case each time I take it off! I just rest it flat (not on it's front as a dust trap) on the desk/shelf next to me and cover it with a microfibre if gonna be away from it for a short while (and disable it to stop it getting hot with the cloth over it)

My touch controls sit in front of my keyboard up-ended ready to grab at anytime (resting on their ring and tip part with handles poking up in the air). Wouldn't like half these stand designs as they make grabbing the touch controllers a bit of a chore, and as I'm in / out of VR a lot with UE4 the stands would rarely get used. If you don't wanna use a case then stick it in a cloth drawstring bag or in a draw as others do. If you want it close to hand at all times then just try to keep the lenses part covered (without perma stretching the head bands) and no glass heads to focus the stray sunlight onto the lenses!!!

Some of you guys are just to paranoid, I hang mine on a hook by the head strap. Yea dust can settle on the lenses but I just clean em when needed. I used to 'baby' all my electronics but gave up on that, now I just use them normally.

If you baby it you will just end up with a  perfect looking ornament in a few months time when a new HMD come out that you 'must have'.
