I know a picture is apparently worth a thousand words Kevin, but this one is short on detail...  where is it pal?

Slightly disappointed by this news a while back:

The first IMAX virtual reality theater, originally slated to open by the end of the year, is now expected in 2017. The IMAX VR Center in Manchester was supposed to be the first of a half-dozen such theaters to launch in 2016, offering VR experiences that exceeded what was possible with home VR headsets. But the schedule has been pushed back. “IMAX anticipates opening the VR pilot center in Manchester in early 2017,” a spokesperson told The Verge, when asked about the project’s status.

I normally just place the picture then answer the questions after the post - saves time as I am on the road.

@andyring - I would normally incur the sulk-wroth of certain posters for bringing up none OVR hardware installation discussions here, but as you asked:

Yes IMAX VR is very sub-par - not a major step towards in VR Arcades as promised, but just a toe in the water. Most of these issues can be blamed on the StarVR underperformance, and IMAX having to run to 'plan B'.

They opened in LA to great fanfare, and the plan for the UK "test" site is Q2 2017 this week - though this is a moving target, I do plan to attend the soft opening when back from China, if you are in the UK lets talk.

As the IMAX CEO stated this is an experiment to get to a great offering. I know that a number of original execs on the project have moved on, and they are talking with consultancies like ours to gain a better idea on what can and can't be achieved in the DOE space.

Is there anything online about the Brazilian museum?  I had assumed when you said theater that they were watching a play / musical lol

Yeah i'm very disappointed by the delay to the Manchester IMAX - that was going to be a work's night out before Christmas!  Still excited by it though and hope it's a great success.

To be Frank @andyring - the delay was inevitable. Those of us following the current slew of VR arcade openings are seeing a pattern as the reality of the business meets the uneducated expectations of the developers - a lot of culling and redraughting of plans.

But so far the reaction from the media to the LA facility looks positive if a little bit hyperbolic: http://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/imax-vr-experience-center-opening-los-angeles/#/3
