Calibration issues with Gear VR Remote

So I just bought the remote for my Gear VR (white retail model) and I was having some issues with it.
Whenever I try to calibrate the control, it would stop at "set the level".
No error message, no check mark, it just hangs there.
Keep in mind, this was AFTER I updated the firmware for the controller.
My phone model is a Samsung S6 Edge+.

I'd recommend submitting a support ticket here:

However, keep in mind that if there is a hardware issue with the controller, you'll have to contact Samsung. Thanks.

This is also happening to me it never gets past the "Set the level" part just hangs there, with that in mind i have noticed the controller does draft to the left pretty bad, i am guessing the gryos are off and thats why the level will not set or the thing is just buggered :( would be nice for some kind of solution

The first remote that came with my son's gear wouldn't work at all but the replacement one worked but not very well and from what I've read there in no way to re calibrate it like the setup shows by doing figure eight thing.

Having the same issue with my controller.  Have message the Oculus support, below is the message for everyone to message maybe.

    My message.....

Callibration issue with the remote controller during 'Set the Level' process

    RFAJ903CV5D - VR headset
    RF7J927903HCIS - Controller

During Callibration the remote controller (S/N: RF7J927903HCIS), at the final stage of 'Set the Level' process, nothing happen, the process ran forever with no prompt and error message.

So 'Skip' the process ending up not able to see the remote controller during the use of VR.  Before the firmware update it was fine and I can see the the controller during the use of VR.

Now I can not see it, so has limit the use of a lot of the APPs.   The Volume, Back and , Home buttons on the controller still function though.

It looks like the Bluetooth has connected the controller, but the new firmware may have affected the 'Set the level' callibration, hence the failure to see the controller in the VR usage.

Please can you revert the previous version of the firmware to fix this or have an updated version to resolve this problem which greatly affect the use of the controller during VR.

    Thanks in advanced,
    Dave Lau
