E3 2017 VR Predictions!

As we can not carry-out a "Oculus Bingo Card" for this event; thought it would be interesting to see how many of you agree with these predictions instead?

    Okay, just for fun:

    - No Rift for Scorpio -> Microsoft isn't even interested in joining the Global Virtual Reality Association
    - Fallout VR will not be the full game just a small part of it (I think more parts will come via DLC)
    - Fallout VR will be a timed exclusive for the Vive (after that it will come out for the Rift and PSVR, because of money)
    - Battlefront 2 will have at least one VR mission (DLC or right from the start)
    - For the rest: I don't care

    - More Content for Rift, Vive and PSVR
    - New HMDs from different manufacturers to test out (and people are talking about it as usual = better than this, the best experience they ever had - blabla)
Excuse my bad english. I speak to you through the google translator. :P

You really think Fallout VR will only be part of the game at this point? I've got a strong suspicion that it will be the full game and that's why it's not been release already. I think you're probably right about it only coming to Vive to begin with but hopefully we're both wrong.

    Guess we'll see on Sunday!

They've said officially that it includes the full game, so that would be an odd move to cut it down. No word on the DLC content, but I expect at least the full base game.
    i7 5820K @ 4.25GHz | EVGA GTX 1080 SC | Gigabyte GA-X99-UD4 | Corsair DDR4 3000 32GB | Corsair HX 750W

Half Life 3 VR to be announced, released in Valve Time, probably around 2043.

Portal 3 VR to be announced, see above.

    Alien Isolation to be released.

Aw bugger. I've started to do a Wish List instead of predictions lol

Fallout 4 to be released soon after E3 for ALL platforms.

Doom VR to be released in Q4 this year.

Sega, Ubisoft, Capcom and EA to announce new VR titles.

No news of the Knuckles controllers because Valve have realised that they have the same problem with them that Oculus had years ago with staff throwing the controllers across the office. Which means that they're going to have to come up with a new design. They're going to have to come up with a Touch controller clone that doesn't look like a Touch controller clone lol

Microsoft to demo something that looks amazing on stage which is obviously fake and wouldn't work that way in the real world with the finished product. Yet again. My money would be on their inside-out tracking being flawless.

Sony to announce some big VR exclusives, both first party and third party.

ohh hang on what is this about again?
This is about Oculus not playing Community Bingo. And Community Bingo is another form of Out-Of-Home Entertainment. Dunno.

Boohoo - we are having a discussion on a post, and the jealous "individual" has to crash it with nothing to offer - oh dear, talking about trying to derail.

We'll probably see Valve dropping the Knuckle design in favour of a Touch clone. Oculus had a VERY similar design as one of the early Touch prototypes but abandoned that design because developers started to throw them around the office every now and then.

I'm not going to hold my breath for news of anything that Valve are working on myself, given Valve Time and everything :(

I suspect the PSVR will get the most new content (due to sales) but Oculus will be right behind them.

Would love to see more full games for the GearVR since that is the most popular Oculus platform by far.

    1) Rick and Morty on GearVR

    2) Good story driven FPS game

    3) Dual controller support

    4) More major game studios making GearVR games (the audience is there... what are they waiting for?)

Let's see if any of these predictions come true

So Bethesda announced a full game of Fallout 4 VR and Doom VFR, but the real question is will oculus be ever able to play it? thanks to the whole zenimax thing?

Looks like they are only tying it to HTC.  Figured with them focused on HTC Vive at beginning and showing the wand in game makes me think we wont see it.

Wow, they are even bringing Doom VFR to PSVR over Rift.   Petty much Bethesda?
  • ZenbaneZenbane Posts: 15,132 Valuable Player
Once the games are out a few months and the hype is over, they will likely release a Rift version. It's the way of things. Doesn't matter though, these are just 2 titles... VR as a whole needs 2,000 more.

Yeah, I certainly hope that Super Lucky's Tale will be released on PC  (and have VR support!).

I mean, when practically-everyone-who-played-the-first-game said "We will gladly pay money for a sequel"  we weren't expecting to have to take off our Rifts or buy a friggen' Xbox to play it.

As for F4VR ... JFC, is HTC really SO insecure about their branding (or is Zenimax SO insistent on rubbing their revenge-based-exclusivity in our faces) that they made Bethesda put actual Vivemote models in the game in place of like.. hands? Or even a tool that doesn't look completely friggen out-of-place?   That flatly-colored cartoon drumstick is an eye-sore when set against Fallout 4's dusty, gritty realism.

Are players really gonna have to stare at THAT whenever they do anything not involving a gun or a disembodied floating pip-boy?

At least there was some good news from this E3:  I can't wait to kill me some nazis in Wolfenstein 2!  And seeing all the real-life ones on Twitter crying about this game as though it weren't a decades-old franchise beloved since the earliest days of gaming... that's just icing on the cake.

When asked about potential VR support for Super Lucky’s Tale, a Playful Corp representative told us “There’s no announcement at this time regarding VR plans for the game.”

The longer the delay the more I suspect Microsoft will bring out their own XBoneX HMD...
Agreed, something happened during the previous management at OVR and MS to the point that if it was not for the Gamepad they would have had nothing to do with OVR. One day we will find out what happened, but for the VR community it will be a separate HMD from MS, rather than a Rift on the XboneX (for the time being! IMHO)
