Hi guys, I need a little help finding 360 degree 3D videos to watch on the Rift, videos that are similar to ones you'd find on Youtube.. I would like to be able to search for any videos of my liking.. with the same variety as Youtube.. any help would be appreciated thanks

Exactly.. it seems like I'm looking at one of the lenses at a different angle or different magnification from the other one, I will post step by step instructions to how I did it and hopefully someone will shine some light on what's happening

Also, if you can, give links to a video that doesn't work and one that does - the problem may lie there :).

You can buy whirligig on home and there's another player which I forgot the name of, an then you just paste the link in there. I haven't done it for a while so I can't give instructions right now. There's some apps within home that have a selection of 3D videos.  Just let you know... some are flat 360 videos, and some are 3D 180 / 360 videos.

Anything that you're after specifically?

Ok, the video that does work is a 360 degree stereoscopic video in over-under format. So I assume you have set the downloaded filename to something like Video_OverUnder_360.mp4. The one that doesn't work is a 360 degree *non* stereoscopic video, so would need a filename like Video_360.mp4.

I don't know if DeoVR lets you control playback in an onscreen menu, like Virtual Desktop does, but if the video on YouTube doesn't describe what sort of settings are needed then you just have to remember the different possibilities (over-under, side-by-side or non-stereoscopic, plus 360, 180 or flat) and try different settings until one works.

It is VERY annoying that none of the videos on YouTube actually give the right settings in the text.

Well when I start a video in DeoVR I make sure to try every setting until it works properly, some videos like the dinosaur one I showed you didn't work in all settings, over-under, side by side, 360, 180, every setting showed the picture as one lense is not lined up or is too magnified with the other causing the video to not look right.. the only other thing I could do is change the name of the video like you said.

Ah, didn't know DeoVR had in-player settings (their website didn't seem to mention that). I assume you did try with both over-under and side-by-side turned off?

The reason I ask is that when played using Virtual Desktop, using the 'Standard' video mode (that is flat, neither over-under nor side-by-side) and 360 projection, it worked just fine. I mean, it was a bit dull having no proper depth, just flat projected onto a sphere around the viewer, but that's the way that video was uploaded to YouTube.

ah, I think you're right.. it's 360 ddegrees but not 3D, just checked both those videos and one only states 360 while the other one states both 360 3D.. I'll look into more 3D videos and see if it works as well as the shark one
