If the laptop uses nvidia optimus battery saving tech (most non-vr nvidia based laptops do) then it's not compatible (hard to tell without knowing which model you have). Optimus is a hardware design issue, it can't be fixed by software.

If you have a display port in the back get a hdmi to displayport adapter its likely your hdmi slot is connected to your motherboard.

It's doubtful, There is no mention of VR at all on that page.  The problem is that many laptops that have the 1050ti are using the integrated graphics chip on the laptop in conjunction with the 1050ti.  Both the integrated graphics and the 1050ti use the same HDMI port.  The rift won't show a display because the signal is usually coming from the integrated graphics and not the 1050ti and rift will only work with the 1050ti not integrated graphics.  So if you have a display port out, you MIGHT be able to buy an adapter and connect the rift to your laptop through that adapter going to the Display port.  I don't know if it will work, but it might.

I don't know, someone else will have to answer that, I don't have to use adapters on my desktop, but I've seen a bunch of people saying to use adapters.

Hello, I explain my problem ... if a compassionate soul could take a few minutes to help me, would really really have truly appreciated 🙂 I own a laptop the Acer Aspire VX 15:

https://www.acer.com/ac/fr/FR/content/model/NH.GM2EF.003

I had a HTC Vive, which worked perfectly (HDMI directly connected to the HDMI port of my pc). It was directly recognized and hence did not turn on the CG intelHD but the GTX1050 ... By cons with the Oculus, impossible ...

When I launch the Oculus application on compatibility, everything is green and it recognizes the graphics card GTX1050,

On the other hand by plugging the headset it remains on the intelHD ... I made the updates of my two graphics cards ..

I took the last versioin directx ... I tried to deactivated the Intel graphics card ... I tried to go through the control panel to place the: Physics directly on the Geforce GTX ...

I always have the same error message in Oculus which tells me: the hdmi is correctly connected but detects a low graphics card ..

So, I've been looking a bit on forums ... French, English, Germans ..., some talk about taking a USB-C gen 3.1 adapter (which I have on my pc) to HDMI .. So j I have this reference, but I want to be sure that it will work ...

https://www.cdiscount.com/telephonie/accessoires-portable-gsm/usb-3-1-de-type-c-pour-adaptateur-hdmi...|mp

====> ps I received my adapter that I paid 39 € 90, except that Acer blocked the mode: alternate DisplayPort .... so the Usb 3.1 type C only serves for the data and does not Does not allow display on another monitor.

I tried to deactivate the Intel graphics card ............................. = ca not working (no graphics card detected)

I tried to uninstall and reinstall GTX and oculus (taking care to delete the cache files, profile) ...... = it does not work
I tried to add oculusclient.exe, dreamdek (.exe), rsv64.exe) to the config nvidia (gtx) panel ..... = not running

On the support oculus (I have an error message that tells me that the headset detects a slower graphics card) but the signal turns green if it remains on for a few seconds ... so I do not understand the latency Of 3 seconds between a real movement and what I see in the helmet ...

Ps: I would like to repeat that I had a HTC Vive (sold with an hmd .... which had hdmi, usb, power) and that worked very well while I plugged directly the HDMI output in the port HDMI of my pc .. I was able to run arizona, robot recall without problem, no latency nor whatever ... which means that my headphones oculus remains on the Intel processor and it makes me a little crazy ....: ) (If you have a solution in settings or other (eg: USB adapter 3.0 ===> Hdmi) I'm a taker ... it's pretty raging To have a correct pc, to receive his helmet and to have a bug also naze .... 🙂 Thank you in advance for your answers 🙂

I ordered this adapter hoping it works ...
