VR treadmill experiences

I would like to hear about peoples experience with omni directional treadmills for VR.

The two "low" cost solutions I am aware of are the
The Wizdish looks less appealing to me because it looks like you just shuffle your feet back and forth but you don't lift you feet off the ground. Is this correct? With the Virtuix it appears (from videos) you lift your feet when you walk.  Is this correct? What about jumping?  How natural does the movement with Virtuix feel? Do you feel like you are freely walking or do you have to get used to some restrictions to use the Virtuix? Would a harness attached to a ceiling help with the Virtuix?

What about other more expensive solutions or other low cost solutions I am not aware of?  What is available now to purchase and/or what will be available soon? There are a lot of youtube videos about other options but it's not clear to me what is available to purchase and what is only a prototype.

Please share any experiences you have with VR treadmills.

Nah, i've come to the conclusion that the only answer if you want to walk/run in VR is the full warehouse experience.

Pah! The whole point of playing video games is to sit on your couch and get fat. Bollocks to this exercise nonsense! 😮 😛

I'm not interested in omni-directional treadmills for entertainment. I'm interested in them for rehabilitation training e.g. for amputees.

Have to agree.

Have used all four released systems - and though usable, they are an approximation of walking/running in VR. Redirected walking is a good compromise, but arena-scale (warehouse) is best. That said, a lot of the new eSport China projects are looking at Omni and "KAT" [edited].

Since I am using this discussion to collect treadmill like concepts I should mention the VR shoes which are an interesting idea if they workout.

Agree, they are nice people with a strong background - and are working on systems for the DOE sector.

The Omnifinity Omnideck probably is not what I want. It takes up too much space and it's likely too expensive. I am interested in locomotion for rehabilitation in the medical field. A large treadmill could possibly be use at a treatment facility but I'm not sure it's worth it (but it might me). Ideally I want a mode of operation which people can do at home or in their office. I'm thinking room scale VR is the idea solution. I recently got the chance to try out the Vive in a large room at I was very impressed.
