problems with oculus

hey, i gotta problem with my new rift, when i went to set it up, installed all the proper software, everything went smoothly, then it says plug in the usbs, so i did, then i plug in the hdmi and my computer restarts. here are my specs, they arent the best so that might be the problem

AMD FX-6100
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 803MHz (9-9-9-24)
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. GA-78LMT-S2P (Socket M2)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 (Gigabyte)

thank you so much, this has actually been killing me for almost 6 hours straight now

    You shouldn't plug a hdmi cable into a computer when it is switched on. You read wrong..

    Plugging in HDMI on a powered system should be fine. I do this all the time. However, you can try plugging it in with the PC off if that helps. You can also try with a DisplayPort-to-HDMI (or DVI-to-HDMI) adapter for either your monitor or Rift.
