Oculus Runtime Services - Current Status

ShowbizDonkey
Retired Support
We are aware of and actively investigating an issue impacting ability to access Rift software. Our teams apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you and appreciate your patience while we work on a resolution. We'll share more updates here as we have them. Thanks.

Update:
Hey everyone - This is an issue with our software certification that we're still actively working on. For security, we use a certificate to ensure that the software you receive actually comes from Oculus. That certificate has expired, and we're looking at a few different ways to resolve the issue. We’ll update you with the latest info as available. We recommend you wait until we provide an official fix. Thanks for your patience.

Update #2:
Hey everyone - We're still working hard to resolve the cert issue. We're in the process of integrating an updated cert. Unfortunately, pushing the update out to affected users has some added complexity, as the expired cert blocks our standard software update path. We're working through the options now, and we expect to have more details to share later this evening.

Update #3:

Hey all - thank for your patience. We now have an Oculus software update in place that fixes the issue where Rift may fail to start up. For more info and instructions, please go here: https://support.oculus.com/217157135500529/

Thank you once again for your patience.

Update #4:
Each Rift user impacted by last week's issue and eligible for our $15 Oculus Store credit (or currency equivalent) will see that hit their account within the next few hours. Not sure where to find your credit? Check out this support article: https://support.oculus.com/176820559444065/ ;

If you don't receive store credit but believe you qualified (used the Oculus desktop app on Rift between 2/1/18 and 3/8/18 -- after further consideration we extended the window by a day to account for potential new Rift owners), please contact support: https://support.oculus.com/885981024820727/

Isn't In Death great!  I haven't completed Purgatory 2 yet but I had my doubts about getting past 1, I seem to be getting better!

@Aliantha, are there any spiders in the In Death game? I'm arachnophobic, so would be good to know...

Unless they appear much later on or get added later, no... it's all humanoid things, ghostly dead things.  No spiders yet!

Can someone please confirm the update number of the subsequent update post repair? My Oculus software updated to 1.24 this morning. I would like to know if that is the latest one or are there more coming, considering the patch did not work for me as I am running Windows 7 which has the KB updates issue. Fixed with cmd prompt to skip that check  though, Cheers AussieStig

I can't confirm the number maybe someone else can.  Like you I was updating this morning when it had the issue.  When you run the patch Oculus Home will start and then will do an update, pretty sure it's the one from this morning that did not complete.

Ok, so, the patch does work, but it screwed up the performance. I rebooted my computer, checked all the parameters, and what usually gives me a solid 90 FPS is now stuck to 40-50 FPS. Does anyone else have performance issues, or is it just me?

After running the patch, it downloaded and installed a software update.  When I then ran Oculus Home (Core 2) and ran a game (In Death) there was a lag on loading each screen.  A few minutes later I had a pop-up notification in Home that another update was available, for which I had to click OK and remove the headset.  After that downloaded and automatically installed, the lag was gone.  Haven't checked any FPS metrics, but after the second update the general performance seems back to normal.

Yes, it took me quite a while to get past Anakim into Purgatory 2.  Love the graphics and the movement mechanics in this game - definitely a current favorite, good to see how the developers are stepping up their game ... 🙂

This March patch 2018 will have to go to the Oculus VR museum or something ... o:)

As a side note, I've been hugely entertained by this discussion while waiting for the fix (well, did get a good night's sleep in between).  Nice to know the Oculus community is actually alive and kicking. This whole incident probably brought a huge boost to forum activity!

If they add multiplayer... *drools* having someone watch my back would be good.

Anakim gets easier as you get achievements and extra health.  Almost got to him on 2 but I got careless.
